Rankings: Class of 2027 Spring Update

The Freshman Class in North Carolina is just now getting their first taste of high school baseball action, on the field. With that said, our scouting staff has already begun to search and evaluate the talent in the 2027 class. This class will continue to grow and adjust over the coming years. The rankings, at this point, is just a starting point to list players to know and players to follow in the 2027 Class.

Prep Baseball's Scouting staff in North Carolina saw a lot of very good players in the 2027 class as they were out watching workouts, hosting winter events, and seeing preseason practices. With the influx of names to the 2027 Rankings database, the North Carolina scouting staff increased the 2027 Rankings to the Top 50 in the state.

As Prep Baseball scouts see players, they work to put an evaluation on players where they have enough information. While the confidence in the grade and evaluation will grow over time, it gives the scouting staff a starting point. For every player that has a player grade they will go into the 2027 rankings database where players are sorted by their grade and confidence level, without scouts seeing player names or schools. After the sort, players are adjusted within their grading area, based on tools and tool grades. After the adjustments, player names and schools are added back and Prep Baseball scouts can make any final adjustments to the player rankings.

Below we dive into the 2027 player rankings. This class will be heavily represented at the NC/SC Border Battle in June, the Super Sophomore Games at Wake Forest in August, and the North Carolina Top Prospect Games at Campbell in August.

Updated Class of 2027 Rankings

High Risers

These players may have been in the initial 2027 class rankings but as Prep Baseball scouts continue to work to evaluate players, these players saw a grade adjustment that allowed them to move up the rankings in this release.

New Comers to the Rankings

With the list growing from the Top 25 in the Class to the Top 50 in the Class, the Prep Baseball Scouting staff added 25 new names to the rankings. Most of these players were seen and evaluated at Prep Baseball winter events, allowing the Prep Baseball Scouting staff to put numbers and advanced analytics on the player's tools.
