Stat Analytics: Gaston College Fall Campus Series

Prep Baseball North Carolina continued its fall schedule on Thursday, October 8th with the Fall Campus Series: Gaston College, hosted at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia, NC. The event featured players from the 2027-2030 grad classes, giving the Prep Baseball scouting staff an opportunity to evaluate players while collecting updated statistics, advanced metrics, and video through a complete pro-style workout.
The day began with Vizual Edge testing and athletic measurements before players moved into the running portion of the workout. Laser timing systems captured each player's 60-yard dash along with 10-yard and 30-yard splits, providing additional insight into acceleration and overall speed.
Position players then transitioned into offensive evaluations with multiple rounds of batting practice. TrackMan tracked each batted ball, collecting exit velocities, distances, and additional ball-flight data. Defensive evaluations followed from each player's primary position, allowing the scouting staff to evaluate athleticism, movement, actions, arm strength, ball carry, and accuracy across the field.
The night concluded with controlled bullpens, providing another evaluation opportunity for both pitchers and catchers. Pitchers worked through their arsenals with TrackMan capturing ball-flight data out of the hand, including velocity, spin, and movement, while catchers were evaluated on their receiving and overall work behind the plate.
