With the ever changing recruiting atmosphere, players from across the country in the 2025, 2026, and 2028 classes ascended to LakePoint for the Future Games on July 24 - 29. The adaptation on the new recruiting rules saw a lot more rising JRs available for the Future Games, leaving the rising SO class, the 2027s, without their national spotlight. Out of this came the Super Sophomore Series. Each region of the country pulled together top 2027 grads to represent their state or region in this brand new event. For the players from North Carolina, they competed in the East Coast Super Sophomore Games at Wake Forest University and High Point University, featuring teams from South Carolina, Viriginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Team North Carolina players took part in a full workout on Friday at Wake Forest. The workout included BP, defensive work, and athletic work. Prep Baseball Scouts were on hand taking notes and stats on players as they completed the workout. Saturday and Sunday featured three games, competing against teams from other regions. The 2027s that were named to Team North Carolina had a great weekend and created a ton of buzz as information was released. Below we dive into more of what our scouts saw at the 2024 East Coast Super Sophomore Games with Team North Carolina.
