PBR Futures Games: Nebraska Preview

Brian Feekin
Nebraska Scouting Director

The summers premier scouting event, the Future Games, returns to the Hoosier state August 1-4 at the state-of-the-art Grand Park complex in Westfield. The four-day event features many of the country’s top 2020 and 2021 uncommitted prospects against one another in front of hundreds of college coaches.

This year’s MN-IA-NE roster is once again full of high-end talent and will showcase some of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2020 class.

Leading the way for Nebraska is a pair of infielders with Trey Frahm (Elkhorn HS) and Max Anderson (Millard West HS). Ranked No.1 & 2 in the 2020 class, they have an advanced ability to play at a high level, both starting on varsity their freshman legion season.  Frahm, who has an electric arm in the infield, has shown he has the ability to get on the mound and pitch in the 87-90 mph range. Anderson is still playing in the Nebraska Legion State tournament so there's a chance he can't make the trip to Indiana. If it the Futures Games ends up working out for Anderson, his loud bat should play well against the power arms in Indiana.

Tyler Ruhl, ranked No. 4 in the 2020 Nebraska rankings, is the only 2020 pitcher on the roster.  He has recently pitched well for the St. Louis Gamers this summer. Ruhl is an athletic 6-foot-3, 190 pound right handed pitcher with a loose arm action and a fastball that runs into the upper 80's.

The fastest player on MN-IA-NE roster is utility player Tyler Palmer (Columbus Scotus). Ranked No. 5 in the Nebraska 2020 class, Palmer ran a 6.58 at the Nebraska Elite 50 in May. Palmer has a lean athletic frame and a gap to gap approach and flashes some pop in the bat at times.
