2022 Ranking Risers: Ty Coombs

Nevada prospects have gained steam on the national scale, evident by the five prospects landing in the 2022 PBR National Players Rankings with the most notable being Bishop Gorman product, Justin Crawford, and Palo Verde standout, Mason Neville, cracking the Top 30. The PBR National Rankings have brought a wave of positive attention to players throughout our state and we will continue to highlight those players with the PBR Rankings Riser that will feature the some of the most improved players in the recent rankings update.
Arbor View and GBG Vegas product, Ty Coombs, lands at the #6 spot in the PBR Nevada Player Rankings update following his performance at the GBG Vegas Scout Day. The right hander is an imposing presence on the mound at 6-foot-5, utilizing his length to get down the mound well which caught the attention of the staff Long Beach State leading to his commitment to play for the Dirtbags earlier this year. He features a three pitch mix with a fastball sitting 86-87 mph with downhill arm side action, a curveball with 11/5 shape with flashes of some sweeping action and split-change that matches his fastball arm speed and commands well down in the zone. Coombs height and present build will allow for more strength to be developed, especially in the lower half which in turn should see his velocity trend positively with the additions physicality and improve the effectiveness of his secondary pitches
