10.26.17 Bay Sox Scouting Notes

Chris Rezendes,  RHP, Tabor Academy, 2019
Large boned right-handed pitcher with more strength arm than whippy.   The arm path is longer on the back side, lands slightly open, has some pull with the front side.  It's a future power arm as a freshman, sat at 80-83 mph, with life to it, has been a tick higher at times, running it to 85-87 mph.  Hard CB at times slider look 1-7 type spin, clocked at 72-73 mph.  The changeup is a work in progress, adding this pitch will compliment the two others well. Bullies his FB is zone more box command than corner command.  Potential to be 90's guy in future.

9.8.17 Swarm Evaluations

Mason Walsh, 2020, North Kingstown, SS/2B
Walsh is a tall, loose, projectable middle infielder. At the plate he stands tall with a fair amount of pre-swing movement. He needs to improve on his balance at the plate. In the field he looked sharp. He has a good handle of the glove and showed talent charging ground balls.

8.28.17 CT Mayhem Scout Day

Cam Bogli, SS/RHP, 2019, Rockville
Bogli has the tools to stay up the middle on defense, with a strong enough arm and good first step. The glove works well and he throws from a ¾ slot. Offensively, his base is wide and even to go with loose hands that work from the letters. There is a moderate leg kick to go with a level-up bat path. Line drive oriented to go with a middle-pull approach during BP.

7.9.17-7.15.17 CT Scouting Notes

Josh Wittenberger, RHP/SS, Clubhouse 16U, 2020
Scouting Report: Wittenberger is an athletic 6-foot-1 with the potential to thrive as either a starter or a position player. He has a quick bat and loose wrists. Watched him hit two home runs and the ball jumps off the bat when he barrels it. At shortstop he has an above average arm. He may eventually need to move to third base if he keeps growing, but his hands in the field will allow him to excel there. On the bump, Wittenberger lives in the low-80s with his fastball. His curveball shows signs of becoming a go-to out pitch. Two plane movement with good vertical depth. A good follow for the 2020 class.

Scouting Report: Rounds looks the part of a ballplayer, with a strong lower half and athletic build. Easy swing from the left side, good bat speed, developing power right now that promises to continue growing over the next two years. Consistently made hard contact, showing a middle-pull approach. Solid to average foot speed, best served in a corner outfield spot. Chance to be a significant riser over next few high school seasons.

6.28.17 Ocean State Waves 16U Scout Day

Mike Halloran, C/3B, North Kingstown HS, 2019
Scouting Report: Halloran is still developing some of his game but the tools to be a plus all around defender are in place. He can pick it behind the plate with the glove. The footwork is coming along nicely for a young backstop. His presence with pitchers is apparent, as he showed a knack for coaxing the best out of his battery mates with location and command. The arm is average at the position for his age, but more strength and with it, velocity, should develop as he matures physically. In the box, Halloran uses an unexaggerated waggle to get the bat going, the feet start shoulder width apart as he takes a slight step toward the pitcher, and his wrists are right above the letters on his jersey. Some untapped natural power, as he gets the bat through the zone quickly but his weight can transfer to his front foot earlier in the process. A singles hitter now but could show serious gap-to-gap power in the near future with normal maturation for an athlete his age.

5.26.17 East Lyme Scouting Notes

Matthew Malcom, C, East Lyme, 2018
Scouting Report: A wiry strong, fast twitch athlete. A right-handed hitter, who is balanced, gets loaded up and keeps the weight back and balanced throughout. The swing path is flat, level through the zone, swings the bat with authority and makes solid contact routinely. The approach is more pull, has enough juice to beat the outfielders, currently has 5 home runs on the season. Defensively, is extremely athletic and mobile behind the plate. The setup is flexible and low to the ground, legs have bounce in them. The transfer is quick, gains ground on throws to second base. The arm action is short with plenty of strength to it, throws are on a line with good carry., had an in game time of 2.12. The hands look to be strong enough when receiving. Big time prospect, one of the best kept secrets, a must see.

5.22.17 Immaculate vs Stratford

Logan Zezima, 2B/SS, Stratford, 2019
Scouting Report: A middle infielder with an average athletic build. Played a nice game at 2B in this one. He is a smooth looking fielder who looks to be a solid glove at either middle infield position. Has a decent arm, but should get stronger as he adds strength. At the plate, he is a right handed hitter with a slightly open and wide stance. His hands are loose and quick. He went 1-3 in this game with an RBI double to the opposite field. Hit the ball hard all three times he was up. As he gets stronger he should develop into a solid player.

5.20.17 Burlington Scouting Notes

Game Report: Impressive 5-foot-11, lean freshman righty whose fastball topped out at 81 mph. Smooth delivery, he consistently threw strikes mixing in a good off-speed pitch against a veteran team. One to watch in Vermont.

5.10.17 Wolcott vs Sacred Heart

Scouting Report: Nicol’s defense is very polished for a 2019 class catcher. Receiving skills will develop naturally as he gains more repetitions at higher levels, but the arm is real. Pop time recorded at 2.08 in game. Shows good footwork in blocking balls in the dirt. Athletic, lean build. Short stride for timing as he brings hands into position, drives through the ball with very slight lift. Line drive oriented swing at the moment though game power should come through as he continues to mature. Did not have his best game by any means but the overall talent was still apparent.

5.6.17 Milton Academy vs Governor's Academy

Game Report: Very impressive and consistent delivery in the zone with all three pitches. Fastball was sitting around 93 all game and even got it up to 96 at times. Changeup was a big out pitch sitting 79-81 with great movement and consistent arm action. Curveball was sharp sitting 78-80.

5.3.17 Platt, Newington & Old Lyme Scouting Notes

Scouting Report: A long and lengthy right-handed pitcher. The arm action is short with crank like action to it, works out of a ¾ to high-3/4 slot. The fastball was clocked at 84-88 mph, with late boring action to arm side. The delivery still needs to be refined, lots of arms and legs coming at the hitting. The direction gets across the body some, needs to get inline to reach outer half. The arm strength is plenty good enough, with more in the tank. The breaking ball has some slurvy action to it, clocked at 68-70 mph. Looking at it from a hitters point, wouldn't be easy to square up the baseball, is extremely aggressive and competes at a high level. Being recruited and gaining interests from local division one schools.
