Wednesday April 1st Shoreham Wading River took on Mount Sinai High school in the third game of there three game set.  SWR was leading 2-0 in the series heading into today's match up. For Shoreham sophomore Brian Morrell started the game.  Morrell one of Long Island’s top players showed today why he’s high on PBRs list. Morrell pitched a solid 6innings with six strike outs and three hits.  He also carried a No hitter into the fifth inning showing impressive stamina early in the season.The winning pitcher from Mount Sinai was James Sarno who threw a complete game five hitter striking out four.

In the top of the first Morrell held MS to no hits and one strike out in an easy 1-2-3 inning. In the Bottom of the first Morrell had a base hit to right followed by a double by Fox. With runners at second and third and one out, Kelly rips an RBI single to put Shoreham up 2-0. In the bottom of the second inning Sarno had a 1-2-3 inning with one strike keeping the score at 2-0 SWR. In the Bottom of the third Morrell strikes again with a base hit. Stealing second base and putting the pressure on Sarno. Sarno strikes out two batters to get himself out of the jam and stranded Morrell at second.

In the top of the fifth Morrell throws a lead off walk. SWR catcher Sperruzzi guns out the runner trying to steal second.  While in the fifth inning, pitcher Brian Morrell has a no hitter going until freshman George Rainer broke it up with a rocket line drive up the middle. Score still remains 2-0 SWR.  In the top of the sixth inning Jay Conti leads off the inning with a base hit followed by another base hit from Senior Chris Nugent. With runners now on second and third DJ Gatz rips a ball to second base causing the second basement to throw the ball away scoring Conti. Score now 2-1. A pinch hitter is brought in as Galino walks to make bases loaded. Designated Hitter Scalanandre hits a ground ball to third base. Third basemen throws the ball away causing two runs to score. Tables turned and first time in the game Mount Sinai leads 3-2. Next at bat Jarred Donnelly Hits a RBI FC to first base. Score is now 4-2 MS.  In the bottom of the sixth Montisano attempts to drop a bunt down and does so causing MS catcher to throw the ball away advancing the runner to Second. DH Burch grounds out moving the runner to third base. With a walk runners are now on first and third and two outs. The eighth hitter rips a ball up the middle as Second basemen Jared Donnelly makes an outstanding diving stop to get the lead runner at second  to keep the score at 4-2.

In the top of the seventh inning senior Chris Nugent strikes again with a two out triple to left field showing he opposite field power. DJ Gatz steps up again and lines out to right field stranding Nugent at third. In the bottom half of the inning Bettenhouser leads off with a walk and a pass ball moves him to second base. Morrell with his fourth hit of the game makes it runners on first and third. Morrell steals and the catcher throws down causing Bettenhouser to score making the score 4-3 Mount Sinai.  Fox who already has a hit in the game grounds out to make it two outs but also advances the runner to third base.  The tying run 90 feet away with two outs. With a walk runners are now at the corners when Tom Brady steps up and hits a shot up the middle which looked like it was going to tie the game but second basemen Jared Donnelly makes another great diving catch to get the FC at second base. Mount Sinai goes on to win game three 4-3.
