Scouting Report

7/06/20

Physical: “Next level ready” 6-3, 200-pound frame with advanced physicality and athleticism allowing for eye popping measurables across the board. 7.22 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Loose and easy in the setup showing slight bend in an even stance with some hand movement out in front of the shoulder. Utilized a slight barrel tip and shoulder turn inward for the load coupled with a repeatable lift and replace stride that generated plenty of momentum pre-launch. Entered the hitting zone through a violent, slightly uphill path with powerful rotation in the lower half creating hard contact and home run power to the LCF gap with present lift after contact. Impressed with the rhythm he created and the consistency in the timing, he repeatedly contacted the ball at the front of the plate and turned on the inner half with authority when pitched there. Hit into a stiff front side while recording a well above-average 98 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: It didn’t hurt that Vega also showed off the ability to be a plus defender that can go get it in the middle of the field coupled with an electric arm-strength from his position. The actions looked effortless as he tracked balls in the air with a quality drop step technique to go and get balls in the gap. Vega should profile as a day one ready outfielder that can handle duties patrolling any of the three outfield positions at the next level and could find himself in a leadership role in the outfield down the line. OF - 87 mph

2/23/20

Fairfield commit. 6-foot-3, 188-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a short leg-hang stride. Stays in his legs well while getting on plane and using a gap-to-gap approach. Registered a bat exit velocity of 91 mph and ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Showcased athletic actions in the outfield while routinely playing through the baseball with 85 mph arm strength.

7/31/19

Impressive build with a strong lower half for the 6-foot-3 188 pound corner outfielder. Vega ran a personal best 7.22 60 and has been 85-87 from the OF in his two workouts this summer. Offensively- The RHH showed above average pop during his BP with loud contact, specifically to his pull side (nearly cleared the building in LF during his BP on the final day). Bat stays in the zone with balance through contact. Defensively he uses a pro-step shuffle into his release. Throws held carry and there is probably a few more miles per hour with a more aggressive approach and crow hop.

6/25/19

Athletic physical projectable frame at 6-foot-3,188 pounds. Ran a 7.37 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- The right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Simple load actions. Quick direct path to the baseball. Shows a slight lift at the point of contact. Showed pop to the pull side. Finishes with a two hand follow through. A lot more left in the tank. Top exit velocity was 96 MPH. Defensively- In the outfield, Showed solid actions. Gets himself in a good position before fielding the baseball. Showed active footwork.  Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 87 MPH. The 2021 graduate is a must follow.
