SCOUTING REPORT
Carpenter is a 5-foot-10 178-pound 3B with an athletic frame. Offensively – Carpenter has a balanced stance with his feet shoulder width apart and knee bend prior to the load. His bat movement quiets as he loads by pushing his hands back before throwing his hands into the zone. His load is complemented by a short stride; gets his hands through the zone on a level swing path and ends slightly upright with his follow through. He has aggressive hip rotation at the point of contact and makes solid contact.  He has an exit velocity of 93 MPH with a line drive approach. Defensively -  Has active footwork and presents his glove early prior to receiving the ball. His hand-eye coordination is exceptional, and he shows soft hands as he gathers to make strong throws to 1B. Carpenter can move laterally and shows aggressive techniques at his position. His footwork is consistently prepped to move towards his throwing target. Carpenter has a suitable left side arm across the diamond at 80 MPH.

WHAT DID WE SEE?
"First observed Carpenter at the East-West Battle at Cortland in July...loved his offensive presence in the box. Very comfortable including an impressive at bat facing Lenny Torres which resulted in a base hit. Compact swing with some muscle behind it, projects as an average guy that will pop one on occasion. Difficult to find a true 3B at the high school level but Carpenter fits that mold. Look for 2018 to be a monster year for him".
