Progress Report: '24 SS/RHP Tyler Castrataro (Mahopac)

Last Look Notes: 2/24/22, Preseason All-State Downstate. Lean, 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame that is still undergoing development. Showed off some quickness at 7.15 60YD, which translated to natural actions on the infield dirt. Reached back for an 87MPH arm-strength and featured an 80-81MPH FB. Some life out of the hand + feel for a two-plane breaking ball to glove-side. The RH hitter notched a T90MPH EV, creating efficient ground-power in his swing. Mostly fly ball approach with ability to handle the sweet spot (62%).

Recent Improvements: 2/19/23, ID: Hudson Valley. At a stronger 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, Castrataro broke sub-7.00 with a 1.68/6.91 split. The two-way prospect upped his max positional velo to 89MPH (more in the tank) and flashed a newfound 85-86MPH FB at 2316rpms. Big carry/run traits with the CB now pushing 2600+ spin and a commanded SL. Has a chance to make noise offensively from a mature, balanced skillset and T96MPH EV (91MPH AVG). Increased bat-speed from 70.7MPH to 74.3MPH and hand-speed from 22.8MPH to 23.9MPH in just over a year's time.

Projection: The prototypical top of the order hitter should draw a legitimate following throughout the summer, as 15-pounds of extra muscle have his game on the rise. There's a high level to repeat at the plate and the arm-talent/pitchability is just a bonus. Imparted much more consistent spin on the ball, hinting at a velo spike in the near future. Fits the bill of an all-around athlete, multiple ways to effect the box score.
