Scouting Report
Physical: 5-foot-11, 190-pounds. Physical, filled out frame; 4.75 home-to-1B.
Offensively: RHH. Feet are shoulder width apart; tall stance with very little bend in his knees; small leg lift/stride out; opens up; bat begins flat on shoulder Gets his hands to the ball quick; sprays the field; bat stays in the zone long and ends with level finish. Showed pop to pull-side gap; contact hitter; middle/pull-side approach. 74 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Decent footwork around the bag; stiff upper body, would like to see him work lower with the baseball; quick release. 3/4 arm slot; medium arm swing. INF - 76 MPH.
Pitching: Primarily out of stretch, sits pre-loaded in back leg, leg lift to the waist, has a little kick into stride out in line with target, repeatable, balanced delivery. Long fluid arm swing to a high 3/4 release.
FB: T82, 80-82 MPH. Downhill plane with arm side run.
CB: 69-70 MPH. Sharp 12-6 break.
CH: 72-74 MPH. Maintains hand speed with arm side fade.
A strong build at 5-foot-11,175 pounds. Pitching- The RHP displayed a repeatable delivery with balanced mechanics . Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. Also works mainly from the stretch. Displayed a slight shoulder tilt and FB has some downward plane. Arm is loose and projectable. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. FB peaked at 80 MPH with plus command ranging from 76-78 MPH. CB has tight spin ranging from 68-70 MPH. Showed feel for a CH at 70-71 MPH. The 2021 graduate has tons of upside and is a must follow.
Starts with a tight leg tuck to the plate. Has a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball was measured at 77-79 with run. Locates the fastball with command down in the zone. Curveball is 66-68 with tight break.
Jung is a 5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed pitcher and first baseman. He ran an 8.74 60. Offensively- Sets up with feet over shoulder width apart. Upward stance with bat tilted at 60 degree angle. Short swing and recoils at contact. Recorded exit velocity 66 MPH. Defensively- Approaches ball with glove out in front and crouched over. Receives ball with fluid transfer into a balanced throwing position. Recorded throwing velocity of 75 MPH. More of an outfield approach then his listed position at 1B. Pitching- Middle rubber setup with small side step. Balance point to chest with 3/4 arm slot and arm side drift on plant. Stride could use some work as it should be more direct to catcher which is causing inaccuracy and pitches to drift off plate to arm side. Fastball peaked at 74 MPH. Curveball ranged from 63-64 MPH with slight 12-6 break. Change up was 67-68 MPH. Young kid with some promise if he works on improving mechanics. Projects better on the mound at this point but plenty of time for that to be sorted out.
