Scouting Report

6/30/21

Physical: XL, strong 6-foot-4, 220lb frame with durability found. 8.10 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Upright, taller stance as the hands operated at a 45 by the head. Utilized a leg lift to stretch outward, initiating through a flat, whippy bat path into the hitting zone. Able to tilt slightly over the backside, creating some lift to the pull-side gap; drove the baseball with intent en route to a 70% line drive rate (via Trackman, good direction). Posted a T91 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak with doubles power available, showcasing a 317 foot batted ball distance (room for more). Big, mature middle of the order type bat with RBI potential.

Defensively: The primary third baseman demonstrated a slight hop in the prep-step and a medium/high posture in the footwork. Approached on time and presented the glove out in front with some length to his left. Fielded cleanly and released from a full H ¾ arm slot up to 82 mph to the target (accurate).

Pitching: RHP - Worked out of the stretch-only from the middle of the rubber, lifting to a balanced position before separating on-time to a H ¾ slot (medium arm circle). Created some downward tilt over the front-side on a heavy 81-84 mph FB (1638rpms via Trackman). Mixed a consistent, lateral SL for strikes across the dish with leverage at T2031rpms and turned to a commanded, fading 73-76 mph CH at 12 inches of HM.

3/27/21

Pitching: Works out of the stretch; quick leg lift before getting down and out in line while keep the shoulders over the back side until foot strike finishing over a strong front side. Arm drops out of the glove to a neutral slot before getting up quick to a natural 3/4 slot. FB: Throws a heavy ball flashing arm side run up to 11". SL: High spin (2172 RPM) with sharp horizontal break up to 11.9". CH: Maintains hand speed with arm side run

2/15/21

Physical: Large, solid 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame with a high-waisted build. 8.45 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Open, balanced setup as the barrel pointed over the head at a slight 45 degree angle in the stance. Utilized a leg hang stride with weight shift towards the front side at impact, hit into a stiff front side while getting leveraged out towards the front of the plate. Mostly pull-side approach with a short, connected swing through a slight uphill path; recorded an 86 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball with an impressive 46% line drive rate showing ability to punch the pull-side gap with hard contact. A 320 foot max batted ball distance points towards developing doubles power at the moment.
Defensively: The primary third baseman moved well laterally with a soft glove hand off of the left side of his body, good reads off the bat and trust in the timing at the fielding window, average pace from the hot corner with a strong 83 mph arm from a wound up, high ¾ slot. Should also have the ability to slide over to first base if need be.

8/25/20

Physical: 6-foot-2, 180 pounds; large frame, strong lower half. 8.52 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Big time open front side with bat resting on his shoulder; slow turn of the hips, but manages to do it on time and consistently. Lunges forward to the ball, getting out of his back leg load. Keeps hands tight and shoots them forward at the ball, turning the barrel quickly. Pulled multiple hard hit balls and caught some loud barrels; peak Trackman exit velocity of 84 MPH.
Defensively: Upright stance, staying moving on pre pitch; takes some prep steps to get rhythm to move to the ball. Average hands, clean transfer; delay in throw due to glove tap, 3/4 slot. INF - 75 MPH.
Pitching: Tall set up, good pace down the mound letting his front food dictate the speed. Drops hand down out of the glove and picks it up getting his arm into the ready position. FB: T 75 MPH, 73-75 MPH. Fastball found its way to the top of the zone pretty consistently. CB: 61-62 MPH. Some loop in the curveball. but for the most part it tunnels well of his FB. CH: 67-70 MPH. Changeup offers a good difference in speed versus the heater, works well to arm side.
