Jake Armsey SS / RHP / Walsh Jesuit, OH / 2021Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 10
AKRON - The desire to stay close to home proved to be one of the deciding factors in the college choice of Jake Armsey. “Originally I wanted to go far away,” admitted Armsey, who went on a visit to Furman, more than eight hours away from home, after the Future Games and was offered. “I loved that school, it was just too far away. “My mom wants to see me so I wanted to find something that was closer, but not too close that she can check up on me.” Enter Bowling Green. “I talked with my summer coach about colleges that I’d be interested in and that would be a good fit for me and he reached out to them,” the Walsh Jesuit junior said of BG. “They saw me over the summer and came to the Future Games and saw me there.” A recent visit to the Mid-American Conference school helped the 38th-ranked 2021 in Ohio make his college decision. “Personally for me, I didn’t want a huge college and not one too far from home,” Armsey explained. “I went to BG and everything was perfect. I bonded with the coaches, I went to a practice and I loved what they did. I felt welcome.” Kent State, Ball State, Miami and Central Michigan were other MAC schools Armsey talked with while interest also came from Penn State and Michigan State in addition to Furman. “BG just stood out,” Armsey noted. “I felt welcome to be there.” It is also the right distance from home allowing his biggest influence in the game to come see him. |
