Luke Arnold SS / 3B / Lebanon, OH / 2020

LEBANON - Two key areas of improvement have Luke Arnold a better baseball player. The Lebanon senior is also a college commit after making Wright State his school of choice.

“Early in the summer after the Top Prospect Games my summer coach Cary Daniel told me Wright State was looking at me and going to watch me a lot this summer,” Arnold related. “But I never heard from them until after a high school showcase at the Dragons Field. Coach (Nate) Metzger (WSU recruiting coordinator) sent me a text and basically offered me on the spot.”

It was decision time for the 66th-rated 2020 in Ohio, who was also considering Eastern Kentucky, Wingate in North Carolina and Young Harris in Georgia.

“I set up a visit to Wright State and four days later I pulled the trigger,” Arnold said. “I liked how personal the coaches were and I felt so wanted there. It was just their game plan and what they have.”

Wright State saw a promising prospect in the 6-3 190-pound infielder.

“They really liked my speed, my glove and my arm,” Arnold noted. “Those are the top three things they’re recruiting for their team and that stood out to them.”

Two of those have been areas of focus for Arnold.

“I’ve been working with a trainer on baseball specifics to help me get quicker and stronger,” Arnold said. “Speed is one of the biggest things I’ve improved up. At the Top Prospect Games I ran 7.27 (in the 60), and at the end of summer at a showcase in Akron I ran 6.83.

“Another area of improvement has been my arm,” Arnold continued. “I was 78 (infield velo) at the Top Prospect Games and 86 later in the summer at a Dayton showcase.”
