Joey Marousek OF / SS / North Royalton, OH / 2020Rankings StateRank: 56 / POS: 13
NORTH ROYALTON - The recruiting process has been fun for Joey Marousek. And why not? When colleges have an interest in you in two sports, it can be an enjoyable time listening to what they have to offer. But eventually, a decision will have to be made by the two-sport standout at North Royalton. “I’m looking at schools and seeing what academics they have and the willingness of the coaches to help me if I want to do both sports,” explained Marousek, a standout quarterback in football and outfielder/shortstop in baseball. “I’m trying to hold off as long as I can to decide on doing one or both sports, whatever is the right fit for me and my family.” Visits to Ohio U and Toledo have taken place with two sports a possibility at each. The 56th-rated junior in the state has also gone to baseball camps at Indiana and Ball State. “I’m leveraging all my options,” noted Marousek, who is looking at a potential upcoming visit to Wright State. “I’m juggling all of the baseball with my football recruiting.” Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Iowa, along with a few other Big 10 schools, have shown an interest in the 6-2 200-pounder in football, where he was a Division II third-team all-state selection this past season. “I’m trying to find a place right now that fits me athletically and academically,” Marousek said. Deciding on which sport or sports to play at the next level has not been easy. “I’ve discussed it a lot with my family if it’s possible to do both,” Marousek said. “I know I have the ability to contribute somewhere.” His love for both sports makes it more difficult. |
