CINCINNATI - The recruiting process is different than what Chris Hoffmann believed when it all began.

“It’s a little trickier to get ahold of schools that I thought it would be,” the Roger Bacon senior admitted. “It teaches you to stay strong and not give up on it.”

If a big power bat is needed by a college, the 6-5 215-pounder would certainly be worth checking out.

“He’s a guy that’s flying under the radar,” noted PBR Ohio Director of Scouting Jordan Chiero. “He’s a beast physically at 6-5 and has some strength to him. He has a scholarship-level bar with run-producer traits.”

The school-record holder at Bacon for driving in runs, the third-ranked 2020 first baseman in Ohio has confidence in what he can bring at the next level.

“I can help provide RBIs for a program,” said Hoffmann, who is being recruited at the next level as a corner infielder and outfielder. “I can be a game-changer in big games.”

An offer from Dayton came early on. But a freshman at the time, Hoffmann was “not ready to commit because of the financial situation with my family.”

Another offer came recently from a Division II school in Tennessee.

“I’m also having dialogue with Ball State,” related Hoffmann, who sees D-I, D-II and JUCO levels as his best fit at this point in time.

“I’d consider playing around here where I have family members I want to see me play,” Hoffmann said. “But I’m open to playing in the south where I also have some family members.”
