CINCINNATI - Kyle Klingenbeck is hoping to carry on a family tradition.

His father Kevin played baseball at Wright State and an uncle, Scott, participated in the College World Series with Ohio State and later was drafted and played in the Twins, Orioles and Reds organizations.

“Baseball has been part of my whole family, that’s why I’m looking to play in college,” explained the Cincinnati Elder senior. “It’s also what I’ve excelled at.”

While a member of the high school football team that is off to a 2-0 start on the season, the first love for Klingenbeck has always been baseball.

“I’ve been playing since I was five or six,” noted the 84th-rated 2019 in the state. “I’ve always enjoyed it. With football, some days you don’t want to be out there but with baseball it always fun out there.

“When I got to my high school years I struggled in my first start when I was moved up to varsity but when I got to my junior year I started out well. Something clicked and I felt like I could get somewhere with this. I could be like my dad and play in college.”

The lone visit to date was at Cedarville.
