Levin Continues Family Tradition At Harvard

SHAKER HEIGHTS - The family tradition continues.

With both parents graduates of Harvard, Peter Levin was hoping to follow their footsteps.to the Ivy League school. That path is now official after the junior from Shaker Heights made a commitment to the Massachusetts college located in Cambridge.

“It means everything,” admitted Levin about making Harvard his future home. “It’s the place I’ve wanted to go since I was little. It is a combination of academics and baseball.”

The 18th-ranked 2021 in the state, who was a member of Team Ohio at the Future Games, was seen by Harvard over the summer at a Showball event in Boston.

“They like how I swing it and that I have positive defensive skills at first base,” noted the 6-4 200-pounder.

Miami, George Washington, Penn and Xavier were others showing an interest in Levin prior to the Future Games with TCU, Missouri, Gardner Webb, Davidson, Columbia, Ohio State and North Alabama entering the picture after the PBR event. 

“I’ve made huge strides in the last year,” explained Levin. “I put on 20 pounds which not only helped in the field but in becoming more athletic.”

Columbia, Ohio State and Harvard were the final three choices for Levin, a 4.25 student looking at economics as a college major. While visits were taken to Columbia, OSU and Penn, Levin’s long-time interest in Harvard won out.

“I feel great about the decision,” the top-rated junior first baseman in Ohio said. “I’m happy with it. It was a combination of baseball, academics and the ties that I have there. Harvard is home to me.”

The school is a nearly 10-hour drive from his Shaker Heights home.

“I’m ready for it,” Levin said. “I feel I’ll handle it well.”

Levin pointed to a quartet of men that have been influential in his game developing to where it is now.
