Long Process For Kahook Ends At Toledo

CUYAHOGA FALLS - The recruiting process can be long and grueling for some. That was the case for Yassir Kahook.

“I thought it would be more straight forward,” the Walsh Jesuit senior admitted. “I didn’t know what I was getting into. It was a little hectic.”

Interest picked up more than a year ago.

“The summer after my sophomore year they saw me at a few games,” Kahook said of Toledo, where he recently made a college commitment. “They said they wanted to wait until next summer. They don’t like early recruiting, and they wanted to see how I matured.”

Witnessing Kahook at a PBR event for the second year in a row took place in early June.

“They saw me at the Top Prospect Games,” the 57th-rated player in the state’s 2019 class said. “I felt I had a good performance there. The year before I left a little to be desired. They got ahold of me a week after that and then I went on a visit.”

Tiffin gave an offer to Kahook, while Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State were also enamored with the right-handed hurler.

“I was talking with all of them before the Top Prospect Games and they watched me there,” Kahook noted.
