Preseason Preview: Wapakoneta HS

One word describes Wapakonteta’s baseball team: experienced.  Coach Brandt and the Redskins return all 15 letterman from last year’s Division II State Runner-Up.

After suffering at heart breaking loss to DeSales in the finals, Wapakoneta has their goals set high.  But, before they go for another tournament run, they will compete again in the difficult Western Buckeye League. 

The WBL, contains some of the top pitching prospects in the state including Wapakoneta's John Crawford (Bowling Green commit), Lima Shawnee's Cory Wilder (North Carolina State commit) and Defiance's Robert Zeigler (Kentucky commit).

Class of 2013

  • P/OF, John Crawford – The 6-foot-2, 180-pound southpaw is the staff ace and roams the outfield.
  • SS, Josh Apple – The 6-foot-1, 160-pound prospect made some dazzling defensive plays in the Final Four.
  • P/1B, AJ Etzkorn – The 6-foot, 185-pound lefty has touched as high as 82 mph on mound.
  • C, Bradon Schreiber – The 6-foot-1 and 170-pound catcher has upside with Pop time of 1.98.
  • OF, Andrew Hines
  • OF, Dylan Knoch

Class of 2014

  • P, Chace Culver – The 6-foot-3, 180-pound righty, is becoming one of the top arms in his class.
