Super 60 Breakout Candidates

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

The 2020 Super 60 will take place Sunday, Feb. 2. Since its inception in 2005, many players have put their names on the national radar with standout performances. Here are a few who could do that this weekend.

Nick Chittum, RHP, Grosse Ile HS, MI
Chittum is a physical righty standing at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. He has seen his velocity climb this offseason, bumping 94 mph while throwing downhill. An Eastern Michigan recruit, he has created some buzz by showing a sharp breaking ball with late break, as well as a deceptive changeup.

Reuben Church, 3B/RHP, Maryville HS, TN
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Church had a strong fall with the Royals Scout Team, showcasing some of the best power in Tennessee. The ball simply jumps off his barrel. Though he won’t pitch at the Super 60, he was 90-92 at the PBR National Championships with a 77-78 slider.

Eddie Eisert, SS, Bishop O'Connell HS, VA
Eisert was one of the bigger risers in 2019, progressively molding himself into a potential early-round pick in the draft. A North Carolina State recruit, he took advantage of a hot summer and fall to gain momentum in the 2020 class. His athleticism, quickness, and offensive ability at the shortstop position gives plenty of reason for excitement and could very easily continue to carry steam throughout the spring.

Hunter Ensley, OF, Huntingdon HS, TN
Ensley, who stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, has a chance to turn in a plus 60-yard dash time while showing a strong arm and hitting triple digits in exit velocity off the tee. A Tennessee recruit, he is very toolsy all around.

Alex Greene, RHP/OF, DeMatha Catholic HS, MD
Greene missed almost all of 2019 to injury and has come back healthy and ready for the 2020 spring. A Virginia recruit, Greene has been highly ranked in the Maryland 2020 ranks for most of his career with his powerful arm, speed and two-way potential. Greene will be one of the more intriguing players to see at the Super 60 having been sidelined for almost a full year.

Connor Hincks, IF, Benet HS, IL
Hincks, a Virginia recruit, is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound, left-handed hitting shortstop, who has made big strides in game over the past year. Hincks is a natural hitter with a keen feel for the barrel. He stays relaxed and quiet in the box, stays inside the baseball and has been driving them to all fields with more authority as of late. Defensively, Hincks is a smooth, easy athlete, who plays naturally on the move, has soft hands and his arm plays with sneaky carry across the diamond.

Tavian Josenberger, SS, Park Hill HS, MO
Josenberger is a Kansas recruit with a lean, athletic and projectable frame. A switch-hitter, he has a loose swing from both sides of the plate. He has easy strides, showing above-average speed underway. Defensively, he has soft, athletic actions with advanced body control.

Kade Kern, OF, Archbold HS, OH
The Ohio State recruit is one of the more toolsy players in the state’s 2020 class. He is an uber-athletic kid with a strong arm and a ton of bat speed at the plate. He has thrown 95+ from the outfield, broken triple digits in exit velocity off a tee and run a 6.6 60 or better. His skill set in the outfield plays in all three spots, as he looks comfortable and athletic out there with a huge arm. At the plate, he has an intent driven swing.

Christian Knapczyk, SS, Joliet Catholic HS, IL
Knapczyk, a Louisville recruit, will be one of the more dynamic infielders to keep an eye on come Sunday. He bounces around the infield, has advanced range, is extremely comfortable on the move and his arm plays easy from multiple slots. Knapczyk packs surprising strength in his 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame, and his throws have life and carry across the diamond while consistently hitting his target in the chest. Offensively, he is a prototypical top-of-the-order hitter with athletic hands, feel for the barrel and the ability to spray balls to all fields.

Landon Wallace, C/OF, Roseville HS, CA
Wallace has continued to make jumps as his frame matures and strengthens. The Nevada recruit is athletic and strong at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Wallace put on a show during the NorCal Preseason All-State showcase, letting his quick hands do damage to the pull side. He also showed added speed, arm strength and agility. There's still room on the frame to keep adding muscle.

Caden Wilson, RHP, Liberty North HS, MO
Wilson, a Missouri State recruit, is well built at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Pitching from an over-the-top slot with some effort, he has an aggressive and quick arm that produces a fastball in the 87-90 range, touching 91, with late running action. The breaking ball has 11/5 shape and is late and sharp at 74-75. The changeup is 74-75 with slight arm-side run.
