Scouting Report
7/4/17
Since making the Team Ohio Future Games roster as a rising sophomore and committing to Kent State, Thwaits has physically developed and quickly become one of the top arms for his class in the Midwest. He was selected for the East Coast Pro team for his region. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound righty has really physically matured putting added muscle and weight on his frame. He shows advanced command of fastball sits in the high 80's to lower 90's, topping out at 94 mph. His fastball is complemented by a sinker, curveball, and changeup. The sinker (86-89 mph) is his go-to pitch as he induces a high rate of ground balls. His changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed at 77-80 mph. His breaking ball shows sharp break at 77-80 mph, but he needs to continue developing consistent command of the pitch. Thwaits posses excellent makeup, carries himself with a calm demeanor on the mound, and shows passion for the game.
