Ryan Magdic Q&A

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Magdic: The recruiting process was a long journey for me because there were a lot of schools that I had to look into and see if they had the criteria I was looking for. When I began to focus on a specific area of the country my decision got easier as to where I wanted to go.

PBR: What do you like most about Cochise and what were the key factors in making your decision?
Magdic: Cochise really caught my eye because first of where it is located being in a more suitable climate for playing all year round. Once I got to the school I loved the campus instantly and the guys that I met on the baseball team when I participated in their team workout. I also developed an instant relationship with all three coaches as they were welcoming and showed me around the school and talked about the program school and baseball wise.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Magdic: I went on a visit to Mineral Area in Missouri for a weekend and liked the school a lot but I needed a totally new change. I wanted to go somewhere I could play baseball all year round and meet new people from a totally different part of the country to experience how good they are and what I could potentially up against.

PBR: How did your relationship develop with Coach Inglehart?
Magdic: Coach Inglehart welcomed me into the family as soon as I got there he talked to me about the baseball program and that their team is outside for most of the year except for Christmas. He took me outside to the baseball field where the team was waiting to take some ground balls and batting practice with me which was really fun.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Magdic: My parents have definitely helped me the most to get me where I am at today just simply because they support me for everything I do and always want what’s best for me. When we looked a school, they helped me to find what I ultimately wanted in the end even though I did a lot of the researching.

PBR: How has PBR Ontario helped play a role in your recruiting process?
Magdic: PBR Ontario has definitely helped me get out there with all the videos posted at different events and have helped me catch the eye of different schools from around the nation. You guys have constantly been reminding people about the recruiting process and how important it is to get started on it.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and how has that helped you prepare for the next level?
Magdic: Ontario Royals are my summer team and our league is pretty good but what my coach did was help me realize my potential so I am able to work on things that I am weaker at and perfect what I’m strong at.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college caliber player and become serious about taking your game to the next level?
Magdic: After people including my coaches and teammates told me that I had potential and as I started to feel a lot stronger with my swing and my fielding I knew I could play college baseball.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Magdic: Advice that I would give to young baseball players is to always keep working on your game and don’t give up on what you’re trying to achieve looking towards the future.

PBR: What do you feel are the strengths about your game?
Magdic: I feel my strengths about my game are my ability to make solid contact at the plate no matter the result. I feel I also have good hands for a good fielding percentage. One important thing is that I am always heads up in the field and on the bases to back pick a runner or take the next base.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Magdic: Playing in the Canada Games is definitely my most memorable baseball moment to date because of the people that filled the stands and the adrenaline that went through your body as you stepped onto the field.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ontario?
Magdic: The toughest pitcher I have ever faced in Ontario is Eric Cerantola.
