Hot Summer For Caissie Heading Into His Draft Year
|
Owen Caissie OF / Notre Dame, ON / 2020
Last year he was a young Kentucky Wildcat commit trying to prove he belongs and can compete with Canada’s most elite high schoolers. 12 months later, he’s the Michigan Wolverines most recent commit and after an electrifying performance at T12, he’s set himself apart among Canada’s top high school positional prospects heading into the 2020 Draft. “During the week I felt like how I should play baseball and perform but I also expect more of myself,” explained Caissie, an outfielder on the Fieldhouse Pirates. “The one day there I went 0-for-4 and I wasn’t really happy so I came back with a big day the day after it. I thought I could have done better for sure but all in all it was a pretty good week.” The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder has always stood out no matter the competition or opponent due to his above-average tools across the board but has been allowed to chance broadcast those tools at higher-profile events recently. With his game continuing to elevate as the summer wore on, it seemed like just a matter of time before he would join another big-time program following his August de-commitment from Kentucky. While he won’t hit campus until fall of 2021, he joins Ontario’s top 2020 prospect and his Canada Cup teammate, Connor O’Halloran, who will also be heading to Ann Arbor. For several reasons, Caissie says Michigan was the right fit and ultimately, his dream school. |
