Ontario Fall Showcase Scene - Senior Standouts
October 6, 2022
The 2022 fall showcase season is in full swing as the calendar has flipped to October and the leaves have begun to change colour. Our scouting staff has already hosted five organizational Scout Day's this fall with 5+ still left on the calendar this year.
With these five Scout Days, our staff has seen well over 200 players from across the province. Along the way there have been several unsigned seniors who have caught our eye and shown the talent required to play at the next level.
Below, we take a look at five of the top unsigned 2023s so far this fall.
Joseph Elsersawi OF / RHP / Dunbarton high school, ON / 2023Elsersawi put on a show during his round of BP and stands out in the box with his physical 6-foot-4, 198-pound frame. The right-handed hitter was consistently catching the ball out front and lifting to the pullside with a top exit velocity of 92.7mph (best in the event). Also worked up 79mph from the outfield but it's certainly the powerful bat that will be drawing interest from college coaches.

Nolan Hartley SS / RHP / Maxwell Heights, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 124 / POS: 20
2023 SS/RHP Nolan Hartley is one of the older and more mature players in the program and should get some looks from college coaches at the next level. Athletic looking frame up the middle at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with clean actions and arm strength across the diamond at 84mph. Strength plays at the dish as well where the right-handed hitter posted the top exit velocity at 89mph with ability to lift for some power at times. Stepped on the mound and topped out at 80mph and was also one of the quicker runners on the day with a 7.41 60-time. An unsigned senior who should be on the radar of junior college coaches.

Jackson Groves SS / 2B / East Elgin , ON / 20232023 SS Jackson Groves immediately stood out defensively with his actions, side-to-side movements and ability to his target from multiple arm slots. Lacks strength right now at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds with the actions are clear everywhere in his game. Right-handed hitter with a quick swing and found nothing but barrels and hard contact during his round of BP. His barrel % of 88 was 4th in the event. Best days are ahead for Groves.

Sebastien Pasquali OF / Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, ON / 2023Rankings StateRank: 133 / POS: 28
2023 Sebastian Pasquali posted one of the most consistent rounds of BP at the event. Nearly every swing was on-time, on-plane and off the bat at 85+ mph. Left-handed hitting outfielder who was elevating the ball at times with a balanced swing and had put together a mate round from start to finish. Finished his round with six straight elevated hard barrels to the RCF gap, with half of them at 87mph. Impressive showing with the bat on Monday from Pasquali.

Keegan Covert SS / RHP / North Toronto , ON / 2023Covert, a 5-foot-9, 139-pound unsigned senior had a good overall day at North Toronto Scout Day. In the field, he shows the right actions and footwork with an accurate arm across the diamond. At the dish, he sprayed the ball from foul line to foul line with some feel for the barrel. On the mound, it’s a mid-70’s FB that pounds the zone with a CB and CH for secondary offerings. Covert is an interesting 2-way player in the North Toronto organization.
