Ontario Insider: Josh Naylor Fourth-Highest Canadian-Born Draftee
With their first selection in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, the Miami Marlins made history north of the border.
The Fish took Mississauga’s Josh Naylor 12th overall, officially making him the fourth-highest Canadian-born player ever drafted and the highest position player out of the country. A graduate of the Mississauga North Tigers program and currently a member of the Ontario Blue Jays and Canadian Junior National Team, the 17-year-old impressed in showcases and tournaments around the world.
Not many were surprised that his exceptional power and obvious talent landed him so high in the selection process, least of all his Ontario Blue Jays instructors.
