PBR Spotlight Game: Brampton Royals 18u vs. Barrie Red Sox

Brampton – In an important match-up at the Brampton Minor Baseball Midget Early Bird Tournament at Chris Gibson Park, the Brampton Royals 18u went up against the Barrie Red Sox.

The Royals won the game with a strong finish by a score of 8-3. They were led by starting right-handed pitcher Rayman Singh and the bat of catcher Michael Sookdeo (C/3B, 2016).

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound righty Singh gave up only four hits, but walked three and hit one batter in his five innings of work. Rayman allowed two earned runs while striking out four batters and was the pitcher of record for the victory.

The Royals’ 6-foot, 192-pound catcher, Sookdeo had a strong day at the plate and behind the dish. Michael finished the game 3-4 with a double and two singles as well as two runs scored. Behind the dish, no runner attempted to steal on him and he called a strong game.

Royals’ Right Fielder and uncommitted 2015 grad Dawson Fascia had a good game at the plate and in the outfield. Dawson went 2-4 with two singles, two RBIs and a run scored. In the outfield, Dawson made an excellent running over the shoulder catch in the sixth inning robbing an extra base hit.

Christian Hauck came in for the Royals in the sixth inning, but still had a strong showing at the plate in his limited innings. Hauck finished the game 2-2, with a single, double, stolen base and a RBI.
