Pitchers Only Data Day: Quick Hits

Cam Black-Araujo
Lead Scout, PBR Canada

On Sunday, October 30th PBR Ontario hosted its first ever Pitchers Only event at NRS Institute in Toronto, Ontario. We had roughly 35 arms in attendance to run through a bullpen utilizing our TrackMan machine, along with our Swift Performance Jump Mat.

The event featured players from the 2023 - 2026 classes and was the final chance for pitchers to get in front of our staff for the 2022 season. Below, we break down five standouts on the mound from the event.

Ethan Rampersad RHP / 3B / St Francis Xavier catholic , ON / 2023

2023 RHP Ethan Rampersad comes with a long, lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 155-pounds with plenty of upside on the mound. The fastball sat 80-82 T83 with the best spin on the day (2270rpm). Worked with a slider at 75-77mph with 2350+ spin and a changeup that’s still developing. Lots of room to grow and refine on the mound but the size and quick arm will definitely peak the interest of college coaches.

Vincent Bouchard Wright LHP / OF / Mapleridge Secondary, ON / 2024

2024 LHP Vincent Bouchard-Wright was one of the smoothest arms we saw on the mound Sunday and it was from the left-side, to boot. Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot, 165-pounds and moves well with the ability to locate all of his pitches. Fastball sat 79-81 and he rarely missed the glove with the pitch. Flashed a good changeup, as well a slider. Intriguing 2024 arm out of the Team Ontario program who has a chance to pop this next year if he can sharpen his offspeed stuff.

Lucas Cordeiro 3B / RHP / Michael Power/St Josephs, ON / 2026

2026 RHP Lucas Cordeiro was one of the top underclassmen at the event and continues to get better each time we see him. 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, the arm is quick and long on the mound with clean mechanics. Had one of the cleanest bullpens with a fastball that sat 77-79mph along with a curveball at 66-67 with good top-to-bottom shape. 2026 who’s best days are ahead of him as he continues to develop.

Carter McGee OF / LHP / BOWMANVILLE, ON / 2024

2024 LHP Carter McGee was a name our staff didn’t know but the Kendal Eagles arm made a good first impression. Immediately catches your eye with a long, high-waisted 6-foot-1, 145-pound frame from the left side of the mound. Fastball sat 71-74mph from a simple and clean, downhill delivery. Breaking ball is still a little inconsistent but snapped off a pair of them that show it can be a quality pitch down the road. An arm that’s still raw on the mound with lots of upside.

Benjamin Harris SS / RHP / Waterdown, ON / 2025

2025 RHP Ben Harris was another 2025 who impressed on Sunday with a fastball that sat 76-78mph. 5-foot-8, 145-pounds with a clean, repeatable delivery on the mound and there’s lots to like in the quick/clean arm. Depth on the breaking ball with feel for the pitch at 66-68mph. Does a lot of things right and will be one to watch from the Ontario Rockies as he continues to mature.
