top 10

The long standing #1 player in the state, ‘24 Ryan VandenBrink (West Linn) is an athletic, physical package who showed an advanced offensive skill set on the live looks we had this spring. The power plays to all fields as he’s exceptionally strong at the point of contact with his powerful levers and strong wrists. Oregon State commit.

‘24 RHP Gabe Howard (West Linn) is the top arm in the state and has been as consistent as they come over the last few seasons. The 6’3 frame is more rounded out and physical now, which helps him maintain his stuff deep into outings. Most recently the FB was 89-91 with easy, repeatable effort. His SL & CH give him a reliable 3 pitch arsenal. Oregon commit.

‘24 1B Kayle Pisano (Clackamas) is the biggest riser in the state as he climbs to the #3 spot after multiple standout performances in the past 6-7 months. After putting on a show during BP in our preseason tour, he carried it over into the summer with another loud showing and ultimately landed on the Area Code roster thanks in large part to his potent LH bat. Has the athleticism to handle 1B or potentially corner OF long-term as well. Oregon commit.

‘24 C/OF Troy Osborne (Grants Pass) was arguably the best all-around athlete at Preseason All-State and continues to have some of the top upside in the class with his speed and power combination. Offensively he’s added some loft and developed a slightly more uphill path through the zone. In addition, there’s some added defensive versatility with his ability to handle an OF spot in addition to catching duties. Sacramento State commit.

‘24 RHP Finn Edwards (Summit) lands in the Top 10 after creating some major helium for himself this summer. The 6’6 hurler was up to 92 mph with his FB when we saw him in a bullpen setting in late June. Given his physicality and low mileage on his arm, it’s fair to assume his pure stuff can improve even more before his prep career comes to a conclusion. Oregon State commit.

‘24 LHP Jonah Barkoff (Lake Oswego) has some of the best present ability of any arm in the state and continues to baffle hitters with his combination of moxie and pitchability. FB was most recently 85-86 on our last look and he understands how to add/subtract velo with his CB and CH while routinely missing bats. Oregon commit.

‘24 LHP Griffin Scott (Ida B Wells) is a newcomer to the Top 10 and makes a big jump overall after an impressive run between the spring and summer. A highly productive arm during the HS season with feel for the zone, Scott works in the mid-to-upper 80s with his FB and will attack with a 4 pitch arsenal. Simple, repeatable mechanics with sustainable effort in the delivery. Utah commit.

‘24 LHP Gavin Derr (Mountain View) is another standout performer from Preseason All-State who rises into the Top 10 thanks to his combination of present arm talent with remaining upside. Derr pitches with an elastic arm that generates impressive lay back and late whip out front. He was up to 87 in the winter and can shape 2 different breaking balls with tight spin. Washington State commit.

‘24 RHP Matthew Kosderka (Sandy) remains the top uncommitted arm in the state. At 5’10, 180, he has a strong, durable build with powerful levers. Pitched 85-87 when we saw him early this spring with depth and bite on the SL at 75-76.

‘24 RHP Carter Nelson (South Salem) has been a fixture in the Top 10 for several updates now and maintains his hold towards the top of the rankings. The projectable righty has one of the better breaking balls we’ve seen with his combination of depth and tight shape from a high ¾ release. Oregon commit.

Stay tuned for more content coming from this latest update, including additional ‘risers’ and new additions to the list.
