Catcher Analysis: Week 3 of Fall College Prospect Program

C Jack Baer, Friends School of Baltimore (MD), Class of 2014

Baer was unable to participate in defensive activities due to a minor injury, but was able to hit during the course of the event. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound C/OF showcased an 80 mph bat exit velocity. Baer displayed some power potential going 1-for-3 with a double at Misericordia University. He also drove the outfielder to the fence in left field in another at bat.

C/1B Evan Moore, Loyalsock Township HS, Class of 2015

Moore is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect that showcased pop times of 2.15-2.25 on throws of 72 mph out of the crouch. He hits from a slightly open stance with a high hands approach and demonstrated the ability to stay inside the baseball. Moore utilized a 77 mph bat exit velocity to routinely barrel the baseball during his round of batting practice.

C/RHP John Turner, Perkiomen Valley HS, Class of 2015

Turner has projectable size at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds and a strong arm behind the plate. He showcased pop times of 2.16-2.24 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch. With additional work on his footwork and release time, Turner should see his pop times improve moving forward. Turner hits from a slightly open stance and utilizes all fields by staying inside the baseball. He displayed an 84 mph bat exit velocity and went 2-for-5 with a walk during the course of game action over two days.

C Danny Blugis, Schuylkill Haven HS, Class of 2015

Blugis is a 5-foot-7, 155-pound prospect that impressed with his receiving and blocking abilities. He showcased pop times of 2.12-2.21 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch. Blugis has quick feet and a clean transfer and should develop additional arm strength as his body matures. He hits from a square stance and displayed the ability to barrel the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Blugis went 1-for-3 in game action at Misericordia University.
