Conference Preview: WPIAL Class AA - Section 2

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

With the start of the high school season less than a month away we will be previewing conferences around the state leading up to opening day. In addition to a look at the top teams we will also highlight some of the top prospects in each conference.

WPIAL Class AA - Section 2

Preseason Favorites

Brownsville (13-6), Washington (13-6)

Last year saw the top seven teams in the section finish within five wins of each other. 2014 appears to be shaping up to be a repeat with no clear-cut front runner. Brownsville and Washington both have talented underclassmen that could allow them to jump to the front of the standings, but with youth also comes inconsistency. Watch for this section to be decided in the final two weeks of play.

Shane RoebuckPreseason Player of the Year

Shane Roebuck, Brownsville HS (Class of 2015)

Roebuck is an athletic 6-foot, 175-pound catcher that had a breakout sophomore season. The talented backstop hit .469 with 8 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs and 24 RBI on his way to all-section honors in 2013. Roebuck is a quality defender that has demonstrated consistent 2.0 pop times.
