Corner Infielders Analysis: Week 3 of Fall College Prospect Program

3B/RHP Thomas Aruta, Pleasant Valley HS, Class of 2015

Aruta is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound right handed hitter that hits from an open stance with a high hands load. He strides to closed and creates barrel whip with solid lower half action. Aruta showed the ability to play through the baseball and solid carry on throws of 76 mph across the diamond. He went 2-for-4 in game action at Misericordia University while squaring the baseball in his other two at bats.

3B/1B Tommy Baggett, Loyalsock Township HS, Class of 2015

Baggett is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound corner infielder that took a solid round of batting practice at Mansfield University. The right handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance and displayed a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Baggett has quick feet and a solid arm across the diamond from 3B at 79 mph.

Craven1B Zach Craven, McKeesport HS, Class of 2014

Craven is a very hard worker and has an infectious attitude on the baseball diamond. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound uncommitted senior has shown continual improvement over the past 12 months and the results are evident. He went 3-for-4 with a double in game action at Mansfield University.

SS/3B Nick Lorenz, East Juniata HS, Class of 2014

Lorenz stood out among the corner infielders during weekend three. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound infielder showcased a strong arm across the diamond (79 mph) and good footwork at 3B. Lorenz went 2-for-3 in game action and had a very solid round of batting practice at Misericordia University. He displayed the ability to use all fields and an 86 mph bat exit velocity in barreling the baseball consistently with some pop.

1B/3B Walker Monteith, Central York HS, Class of 2014

Monteith is 6-foot, 220-pound corner infielder that hits from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift and replace stride foot. He showcased good extension to his swing and the ability to use all fields with a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. Monteith went 2-for-7 at the plate at Misericordia Unviversity and Mansfield University. He displayed a soft glove hand and a 72 mph arm across the diamond from 1B.

Fall College Prospect Program:  Remaining Dates

The fall program moves to Thiel College (9/14) and Slippery Rock University (9/15). A few spots remain to be filled at various locations at the final five colleges on the tour.
