A little less than a month remains until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Franklin Area 2019 OF/RHP Connor Rakow.
The 6-foot, 170-pound sophomore most recently impressed at a September workout with Team All*American. Though he only showcased as an outfielder on this date, Rakow has also shown above average abilities as a middle infielder and on the mound.
Rakow is a right-handed hitter that took one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day. He starts from a square stance and begins swing with a short lift-and-replace stride. Rakow registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity and displayed developing gap power with a solid feel for the barrel. He ran a 7.14 60-yard dash and showcased athletic defensive actions with good carry to throws of 85 mph from the outfield.
The sophomore led the Franklin Knights in a number of offensive categories as a freshman. Rakow hit .438 in his first season of varsity baseball while leading his team in doubles (7), triples (4) and home runs (1). He also finished second on the team in hits (32) and runs scored (21) while finishing third in RBI (14).
