An eight day scouting trip that began with eight games in two days at the Curve Classic in Altoona, PA culminated with a chance to see two ranked teams from Pennsylvania playing at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC. Following are recaps of both games.

Elmira (NY) 5,  3A #16 Harriton 4

Corey NeelHarriton let a 2-0 lead get away when Elmira scored twice in the 6th and three more times in the 7th for the come from behind win. Harriton starting pitcher Corey Neel, No. 304 in the PA Class of 2014 and a Widener commit, was in command throughout his five innings of work. The 6-foot-4 righty yielded just three hits while striking out four without allowing a walk.

Neel was in line for the win when he left after the 5th and Harriton up 2-0. After Elmira scored two in the top of the 6th to tie the game, the Rams managed to answer with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two out, two-RBI double by 2014 OF Grayson Anderson. Two walks and an error in the top of the 7th fueled the Elmira rally and sent Harriton home with the loss.

2A #3 New Hope-Solebury 6,  Ocean township (nj) 1

Spencer TinkelNew Hope-Solebury showed the depth of its pitching staff and the ability to apply pressure offensively from top to bottom of the order in a convincing win over a solid opponent.

The Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning on four hits and tacked on two more in the 3rd with three more hits. Six NH-Solebury pitchers limited the Ocean Township offense to a single run in the 5th.

2015 RHP/3B Spencer Tinkel and unsigned senior OF/RHP Jack Dougherty led the Lions with two hits a piece. Unsigned senior RHP David Cherkowsky was the only Lion to go more than one inning working the first two allowing one hit and no runs.
