Pitcher Analysis: Week 5 of the Fall College Prospect Program

Mike AnthonyRHP/OF Mike Anthony, Phoenixville HS, Class of 2015

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound righty showcased a loose arm and a fastball that topped out at 83 mph with arm side run. Anthony utilizes an overhead rocker delivery and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He also displayed a 67 mph 11/5 breaking curveball and a 72 mph changeup at near fastball arm speed. Anthony worked three scoreless innings allowing one hit and struck out three.

3B/RHP Tom Aruta, Pleasant Valley HS, Class of 2015

Aruta is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound righty that gave up one hit over two innings of work at Lehigh University. He sat 75-77 out of a high 3/4 arm slot while commanding a 67 mph curveball. Aruta struck out two hitters and pounded the strike zone.

RHP Joe Boggs, Oxford Area HS, Class of 2015

Boggs is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound righty that topped at 76 mph out of a high 3/4 arm slot. He also commanded a 69 mph 11/5 breaking curveball that he used effectively to keep hitters off his fastball. Boggs worked three scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out one. He retired six hitters on ground balls.

LHP Zach Guth, Franklin HS, Class of 2015

Guth was in complete control. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound lefty sat 83-85 and showcased his complimentary pitches on the way to nine strikeouts in three innings of work. The dominating performance increased Guth's gaudy fall program totals to 15 innings of work with 35 strikeouts over the course of the first five weekends. His continued dominance has caught the attention of a number of Division I programs, several of which have already seen him throw and others planning to see him at the final stop in the program at Alderson Broaddus University (September 29).

Sam LazowskiRHP Sam Lazowski, Donegal HS, Class of 2015

Lazowski is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound righty that worked three innings at DeSales University, sitting 78-80 with heavy run to his fastball. He mixed in an 11/5 breaking curveball and a 70 mph changeup to work out of trouble several times yielding one run on four hits. Lazowski has a loose arm and repeatable mechancis with the potential to add velocity in the future.

RHP/SS Collin Liberatore, Greensburg Central Catholic HS, Class of 2015

Liberatore continued to impress with his big upside on the mound. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound righty topped at 80 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot during three effective innings on the mound. He displayed a 68 mph curveball with 11/5 break and a plus changeup at 70 mph. Liberatore gave up one run on two hits and struck out three at Lehigh University.

RHP/1B Evan Myers, Pope John Paul II HS, Class of 2014

Myers is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound uncommitted senior that faced one batter over the minimum over three innings of work at Lehigh University. Myers commanded three pitches for strikes, including a changeup at near fastball arm speed. The righty allowed no hits while striking out two and retiring seven batters via ground balls.

3B/RHP Austin Lescanec, Bishop McDevitt HS, Class of 2015

Lescanec utilized an overhead rocker delivery and a high 3/4 arm slot during his three innings on the hill. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound righty sat 77-79 mph allowing five hits and two runs. Lescanec also showcased a 70 mph 11/5 breaking curveball at 70 mph.

C/RHP Zach Murray, Balwin HS, Class of 2014

Murray worked one scoreless inning on the mound at Lehigh University, topping at 79 mph from an over the top arm slot. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound uncommitted senior also showed a 63 mph 11/5 breaking curveball. Murray worked around a hit and an error in the inning to keep the opposition off the scoreboard.

LHP Joe Thompson, Avon Grove HS, Class of 2014

Thompson faced the minimum in three innings of work. The 6-foot, 160-pound lefty mixed a 79-81 mph fastball with arm side run with a 70 mph curveball and a dominant 70 mph changeup. Thompson allowed one hit but got a double play ball to get out of the inning. All told, he retired seven batters on ground balls and struck out one.

RHP Dakota Quigley, Boiling Springs HS, Class of 2015

Quigley sat 74-76 out of a high 3/4 arm slot with some run to his fastball. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound right-hander worked three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out two. Quigley commanded a sharp breaking 66 mph curveball with 11/5 break. He use the pitch frequently and displayed the ability to command the inner half of the plate with the pitch to right-handed hitters.

RHP Travis Wickard, Boiling Springs HS, Class of 2016

Wickard topped at 79 mph out of a high 3/4 arm slot. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound righty shows the numerals on his back out of the wind up leading to some arm side run and sink to the fastball. He also displayed a 64 mph curveball that had a bit of a slurvy 10/4 breaking action. Wickard went three innings allowing three runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
