Prep Baseball Report

Preseason All-State Team Released

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The 1st Annual Prep Baseball Report Pennsylvania Preseason All-State Team has been roughly 11 months in the making. In the course of the past year our scouts have seen a lot of prospects in game action as well as on video. We have compared notes with college coaches across the region and have come up with what we feel is a solid rendering of the top high school baseball talent in the state heading into the 2013 season.

We will name three All-State Teams at the conclusion of the season that will take into account game performance during the course of the season. Those teams will represent the top players by position in PIAA baseball, Independent School baseball and an All-Underclass Team (sophomores and freshmen).

Bogucki UAThe preseason team is captained by the No. 1 ranked player in the PA Class of 2013, RHP A.J. Bogucki, from Boyertown HS. Bogucki, who is also the No. 3 ranked player in the PBR combined rankings covering eight states, comes off a summer in which he pitched a scoreless inning in the Under Armour All-American game at Wrigley Field. The North Carolina recruit sits 88-92 with command of an 82 mph changeup and an 81 mph slider. Bogucki is very likely to hear his name called on the first day of the 2013 MLB amateur draft.

The remaining 12 slots on the team are divided among 5 seniors, 5 juniors and 2 sophomores. All six seniors have signed with Division I programs while three of the seven underclassmen have made DI commitments.
