Seneca Valley Advances to WPIAL 4A Finals

CowardSeneca Valley is returning to a familiar spot, the WPIAL 4A finals. The defending District 7 champions downed Pine Richland 6-0 Tuesday night to set up an all Section 1 final opposite North Allegheny, 3-0 winners over Hempfield Area.

Connor Coward starred for Seneca Valley pitching a complete game four-hit shutout while going 2-for-2 with a triple and a run scored. Coward walked two, struck out eight and threw 71 of 104 pitches for strikes. He was supported by a Raiders' offense that totaled 11 hits off of Williams College recruit Marcus Colella.

Lead-off hitter Jonathan Dorogy went 3-for-4 with a runs scored and an RBI to ignite the top of the Seneca Valley order. Slippery Rock recruit Carson Kessler went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI.

David Laylock and J.T. Riley doubled to lead the Pine Richland four hit attack. The Rams will play Hempfield Area in the WPIAL consolation game for a right to advance to the PIAA tournament.
