The 2015 Western PA College Prospect Showcase took place on July 1 on the campus of Seton Hill University. Our rundown of the participants continues today with the 15 corner infielders in attendance.

Corner Infielders:  Class of 2016

Christian Aldrich, 1B, Central Catholic

6-foot-1, 225-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly closed stance and utilizes a heel lift for his stride. Displayed loose hands but and some pop when he got to the hitting zone on time with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Showcased a 7.84 60-yard dash and an accurate 72 mph arm across the diamond.

Colt Fairbanks, 3B/RHP, Conneaut Area

5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly closed stance and uses a short stride to even. Displayed a short swing path with an ability to barrel the baseball consistently and a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Showcased a 7.49 60-yard dash and a 67 mph arm across the diamond from third base. Would benefit from fielding from a wider, lower base with a concentration on playing through the baseball.

Corey Fogle, 3B, Connellsville

6-foot, 210-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load and a flat barrel path through the hitting zone. Strong lower half creates an above average 92 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased capable feet (7.63 60-yard dash) and an accurate 77 mph arm across the diamond with some straight line carry.

Bryce Halleck, 1B, Franklin Regional

6-foot-3, 215-pound left-handed hitter. Starts square and strides slightly closed from a high hands load. Displayed solid barrel whip and some gap power potential with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Showcased an 8.01 60-yard dash and an accurate 74 mph arm across the diamond from first base.

Alex Hundiak, 1B, Central Catholic

6-foot, 225-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load. Displayed above average hands and a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. Ball jumps off barrel when squared. Showcased a solid 7.44 60-yard dash and an accurate 71 mph arm across the diamond from 1B. Soft glove hand and good feet will allow a potential move to third base at the next level if the need arises.

Nick Kempa, RHP/1B, Vincentian Academy

6-foot-1, 205-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load. Utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Showcased an 8.13 60-yard dash and a 73 mph arm across the diamond from first base. Additional work on foot speed and added strength gains would benefit his overall game.

Josh Lepish, 3B, Springdale

6-foot-4, 205-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift and replace stride. Tendency to pull bat head through zone impedes a 70 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased a 7.89 60-yard dash and a 69 mph arm across the diamond. Additional strength gains will aid overall game.

Ben Ramey, RHP/3B, Franklin Regional

6-foot-3, 240-pound right-handed hitter. Primary pitcher starts from a square stance with a short, lift and replace stride. Displayed a direct swing path and got to extension well with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Showcased an 8.07 60-yard dash and capable actions at first base with a 75 mph arm across the diamond.

Josh Stegmaier, RHP/3B, Morgantown (WV)

5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance with a high hands load. A heel raise with no stride initiates his swing and quick hands create a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Stegmaier ran a 7.59 60-yard dash and showcased a 79 mph arm across the diamond. Stegmaier displayed a soft glove hand, active feet and the ability to play through the baseball from third base.

Garrett Stephenson, 3B/2B, Hempfield Area

5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a squares stance and utilizes a short lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Barreled the baseball routinely with a short swing path and a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Showcased a 7.53 60-yard dash and an accurate 73 mph arm across the diamond. Arm strength would increase with a concentration on getting through the baseball and over the front side consistently.

Tre' Thomas, RHP/3B, Ambridge Area

5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Showcased a 7.84 60-yard dash and athletic actions at third base with some carry to throws of 79 mph across the diamond.

Corner Infielders:  Class of 2017

Caleb Smith, 3B, Norwin

5-foot-6, 160-pound switch hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load from both sides of the plate. Left-handed swing shows some length while dominant right-handed swing is more direct with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Showcased an 8.08 60-yard dash and a 67 mph arm across the diamond that should improve with work on playing through the baseball.

Corner Infielders:  Class of 2018/2019

Garrett Barto, 1B, Vincentian Academy, 2018

6-foot-3, 235-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance with a high hands load. Utilizes a leg lift stride and good tempo to his swing to create a bat exit velocity of 83 mph with some gap power potential. Showcased an 8.03 60-yard dash and an accurate 76 mph arm across the diamond. Displayed capable glove and footwork around first base bag. Projectable frame has room to add strength making him a definite follow in this class.

Nathan Beimel,  LHP/1B, St. Marys Area, 2019

5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitting primary pitcher. Starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short lift and replace stride. High hands load leads to a flat barrel path and a stiff back side with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Solid feel for the barrel with some looseness to his swing that should continue to improve with strength gains. Showcased an 8.94 60-yard dash and an accurate 69 mph arm across the diamond with a soft glove hand around the first base bag.

Bryce Grenet, RHP/3B, Pine-Richland, 2018

5-foot-8, 175-pound right-handed hitter. Primary pitcher starts from an open stance and strides to a slightly closed launch position. Showcased a 76 mph bat exit velocity and some difficulty in fully engaging the lower half as a result of the closed stride. 8.34 60-yard dash and 75 mph arm strength across the diamond should improve with added strength gains.
