2019 Scout Day: Ohio Heat - Sneak Peek

The Arms

Jake Sheriff RHP / OF / Fairfield, OH / 2020

Body Type: 6-foot-1 190-pound prospect with an athletic build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes:
Moderate tempo delivery, creates some deception with high glove side, shows good direction. Works out of a short arm action and high-¾ slot.
Fastball:
73-75 mph fastball mostly straight working on a downhill plane. Show occasional run when thrown arm side.
Curveball:
58-60 mph 11/5 breaking ball with early slurvish break. Has potential to be a solide pitch moving forward.
Changeup:
N/A
Pitchability:
Only offered two pitches during this showing, both show promise. Fastball has nice downward plane but was a bit erratic at times. Showed ability to fill the zone with the breaking ball.
Role:
Present makeup and stuff lean towards a role in the bullpen, likely a mid-relief type role given his lack of command or dominate pitch.
