All-PBR Team Announced

PBR Staff

2021 All-PBRPrep Baseball Report is excited to announce the First Team All-PBR. Yesterday, PBR announced the PBR State Player of the Year in 42 states. On Thursday, we will announce the 2021 PBR Player of the Year.

The First Team All-PBR consists of 13 athletes from across the nation who rose above the competition and stood out at their respective positions. These athletes made a strong impression on the Prep Baseball Report staff during the spring season both offensively and defensively on the baseball diamond. The athletes were nominated by the Prep Baseball Report staff and scouting directors across the United States.

The athletes below have earned their spot on the All-PBR roster.

Catcher: Joe Mack, Williamsville East HS, NY (2021)
It was a late and short season for New York, but Mack made a major impact in the tight window. The Clemson recruit hit .500 (28-for-56) with eight home runs, 41 runs scored, 22 RBIs, eight doubles, a triple and 23 stolen bases, while leading his team to a section title.

First Base: Brady Birchmeier, New Lothrop HS, MI (2022)
A Bowling Green State recruit, Birchmeier laid waste to opposing pitchers, hitting .595 (66-for-111) in 39 games, slugging 26 doubles and 15 home runs. He added two triples, making two-thirds of his hits extra bases. He also scored 72 runs and drove in 76.

Middle Infield: Wes Kath, Desert Mountain HS, AZ (2021)
En route to a 5A state title, Kath hit .486/.612/1.803 with nine doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 29 runs scored. The Arizona State showed the ability to take over a game during the season, turning in a 5-for-5 performance one day with three home runs, including a walk-off, and two triples.

Middle Infield: James Triantos, James Madison HS, VA (2021)
Triantos rarely made an out this season, starting 23-for-27 through 10 games and finishing with an absurd .712/.800/1.577 line in 19 games while leading the Warhawks to a 6A title. More than half of the North Carolina recruit’s hits went for extra bases, as he smacked 10 doubles, a triple and 11 home runs while scoring 44 runs, driving in 27 and going 23-for-23 in stolen bases. He struck out just twice while walking 23 times.

Third Base: Sal Stewart, Westminster Christian School, FL (2022)
One of the top hitters in the 2022 class, Stewart led the Warriors to a 3A runner-up finish in the Sunshine State and had more home runs (17) than he did singles (15). He hit .534 (47-for-88) with 40 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

Outfield: Daylen Lile, Trinity HS, KY (2021)
A Louisville recruit, Lile’s extra-base hit numbers are a sight to behold. Of his 58 hits, he stopped at first just 17 times. He had 11 doubles, 12 triples and 18 home runs, batting .558 with 66 runs scored and 60 RBIs in leading Trinity to a Kentucky state title.

Outfield: Carter Mathison, Homestead HS, IN (2021)
Mathison led the state of Indiana in home runs (16) and was among the best in RBIs (53). The Indiana recruit also batted .515 with 12 doubles, six triples, 18 stolen bases and a 1.242 slugging percentage while helping Homestead to 26-7 record and sectional championship.

Outfield: Braden Montgomery, Madison Central HS, MS (2021)
Montgomery, a two-way Stanford recruit, led Madison Central to a 6A state title with a .479 average, 51 RBIs, seven doubles, three triples and seven home runs.

Pitcher: Gage Jump, JSerra Catholic HS, CA (2021)
A UCLA recruit, Jump was 9-0 with a 0.63 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 55.2 innings this spring. He struck out 103 and walked 18. Those numbers stand out on their own, but are even more impressive when you consider he did it in the most competitive region and toughest conference in the country.

Pitcher: Franz Mozzicato, East Catholic HS, CT (2021)
Mozzicato rocketed it up draft boards this spring thanks to his stuff and it’s no surprise he put up the numbers he did. The Connecticut recruit allowed just nine hits and one earned run in 55 innings (0.13 ERA). He also struck out 135 and walked 22.

Pitcher: Hagen Smith, Bullard HS, TX (2021)
Hits were at a premium against Smith, as the Arkansas recruit allowed just seven in 73 innings. He threw seven no-hitters and four one-hitters, finishing with an 11-0 record and 0.19 ERA while striking out 168 and walking 26.

Pitcher: Jack Walker, Barbe HS, LA (2021)
In leading Barbe to its 11th state title in school history, Walker put up gaudy numbers on the mound. He went 13-0 with a 0.42 ERA, allowing just 24 hits in 83.2 innings while walking 22 and striking out 121. The most impressive part of the hits allowed is that none were for extra bases. The Mississippi State recruit also threw a 10-inning no-hitter, his third of the year, in the state semi-final.

Utility: Jackson Jobe, RHP/SS, Heritage Hall HS, OK (2021)
Jobe rose to pitching stardom this spring, but has long been a legitimate two-way threat and that was obvious in Heritage Hall’s run to a 4A state title. Jobe, a Mississippi recruit, hit .469 with 13 doubles, five triples and seven home runs. He also drove in 38 runs and scored 33. On the mound, he was 9-0 with a 0.14 ERA in 51.2 innings, allowing just 15 hits and five walks while striking out 122.
The Prep Baseball Report boots-on-the-ground staff spends countless hours on the road each and every year to help promote athletes and high school baseball programs throughout the country. Because the PBR staff is attending countless baseball games throughout the spring, it gives the organization an unbiased and legitimate view when handing out awards.
