Area Code Underclass: Nationals
August 23, 2022
With many of the country’s top future draft prospects in the 2024 & 2025 classes present in San Diego for the Underclass Area Code Games, PBR Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt, was glued to the action with a front row seat. In total, seven teams competed with players from all around the country representing their region. The action was fast and furious with a full round of batting practice kicking things off before each team played four games in three days. The intense look provided even greater clarity as to who the next big MLB Draft prospects will be in coming years.
Noah Franco LHP / OF / IMG Academy, FL / 2025Take away the Mississippi State recruit’s work on the mound, where he is one of the top prospects in the young ‘25 class, and he remains equally as high as a position player. Carrying the most impressive present and projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds with square shoulders and lean, natural strength throughout, Franco can do it all on the diamond. Eager to play at all times, the left-handed hitting slugger produced big power to the pull side in batting practice before getting off aggressive hacks in game. There is fluid separation to the hands with a short stride as he stays behind the ball with some intent to lift while delivering a heavy barrel. While the explosiveness on the mound is easy to fall in love with, the potential plus-defender with a powerful left-handed bat might be too much to resist for some.
