Colorado Draft Preview

By John Cackowski and Nathan Rode

The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

In 2015, Colorado saw three high school players drafted in the top 10 rounds—the first time that’s happened since 1999. That’s unlikely to happen again in 2016, but this class is by no means short on upside. RHP Bo Weiss (Regis Jesuit HS, CO) is the lone prospect in the PBR Draft 100 and North Carolina recruits can be tough signs sometimes. Aside from OF Quin Cotton (Regis Jesuit HS, CO) and C Maverick Handley (Mullen HS, CO), the state boasts its usual surplus of pitching.

PBR Draft 100 Prospects

73. Bo Weiss, RHP, Regis Jesuit HS, CO
Weiss has a projectable frame with wide shoulders, standing at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He pitched mostly in the high 80s this spring with arm-side run, but can run his fastball into the low 90s.
