Toledo Central Catholic at Defiance - 4/26/18

Jase Bowen SS / OF / Central Catholic, OH / 2019

Report: Athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound Michigan State commit for baseball and football. One of the top athletes in the 2019 class, Bowen showcased just that at the plate and in the field today. Went 1-3, with good looking swings all day. In the 2nd inning, Bowen hit what would've been a 3-run HR to RF, but went just foul, before blasting the very next pitch out to LF. The HR jumped off his bat and left the park in quick, as you can see in the video below. Look for him to grow into a run producer as he matures.

North Baltimore at Leipsic - 4/25/18

Levi Gazarek RHP / SS / North Baltimore, OH / 2020

Report: 6-5, 210-pound athletic, projectable two-way prospect. On the mound, the righty throws out of a high-3/4 arm slot with quick arm action. Balanced and smooth throughout his delivery. Works fast, gets the call from the catcher and gets to work on the mound. Throws four pitches (FB, CB, SPL, SL), but relies on his top three in game. The fastball sat 82-83, mixing in a handful of 84's. Velo stayed throughout the game in windup and stretch. The curveball was inconsistent at times, but when on, it has the ability to be a swing and miss pitch. The curve should only get better over time with added velo. Also mixes in a splitter at 69-72. Developing pitch that Gazarek shows confidence in, During warmups also showed a slider at 68-70 mph, with nice movement. At the plate, Gazarek uses a balanced stance with a leg lift. Shows a linedrive approach with level swing through the zone. Shows athleticism on the basepaths. Haven't seen Gazarek at SS as he threw a complete game, but with his athleticism and arm there's a good chance it will play. Showcases competitiveness and leadership skills while watching him with his teammates. 3-sport athlete (football and basketball) who is a standout in both of the other sports, getting looks in football as WR/S. His dad/coach Marty played centerfield at IU for four years before being drafted and in the minors for seven years with the Cubs, Red Sox and Tigers. Definite follow

Game Stats: 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 13 K | 1-3, 2B, BB
