Recruiting Essentials Mailbag: Four-Year Scholarships

This week we take a look at a question from an email from one of our readers on the topic of four-year scholarships.
I’ve been reading a lot about four-year guaranteed scholarships in Division I sports and how some conferences are starting to adopt it as a rule. What are your thoughts on this and how do you see it impacting baseball. Do you think it will put an end to over-recruiting and players being cut?
I, too, have read some on this and also have seen an uptick in questions from our readers on this topic. We’ve addressed it before in previous Recruiting Essentials articles to some degree, as well. I’m definitely not an expert on this issue other than some basics and what I’ve read about conferences implementing it. Let me address it in a series of bullet points with a good dose of opinion included:
