Stoneman Douglas Underclassmen Show Well At South Florida Underclass

By Rob Sidwell
Florida Scouting Director

Parkland, FL—The Stoneman Douglas HS, FL, baseball program is rich in tradition, producing talent like Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo. The 2016 season will also feature high profile seniors in LHP Jesus Luzardo and SS Colton Welker, who are both Miami signees and potential high draft picks.

The South Florida Underclass showcase was hosted by Stoneman Douglas last weekend and the Eagles had some young talent in attendance, making the future look promising. 2019 C/3B/RHP Kyle Yeoward is very talented behind the plate, but was also impressive at third base and on the mound. 2018 RHP Connor Brian was up to 83 mph with a very good delivery and projectable frame. He pounded the strike zone with all three of his pitches. 2019 RHP/OF Kevin Heinrich also stood out. He is a young, athletic kid with a lot of upside on the mound and in the outfield.

Below are notes on the Stoneman Douglas underclassmen that were in attendance.

Brandon Auerbach, IF (2018)
5-foot-7, 130 pounds with a lean and athletic body. In the field he showed good footwork, soft hands and played through the ball well. He has enough arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield as he threw 74 mph across the diamond. At the plate he was balanced, had a nice swing plane and good hitter’s hands. He has an easy swing and hit line drives consistently to all fields. Ran a 7.33 in the 60.
