2021 Senior State Games: West Preview

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

The 2021 PBR Florida Senior State Games kick off this Saturday and Sunday at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, the spring home of the New York Mets. The event will feature many of the top 2022’s competing for regional bragging rights through a showcase and three games of the two day span. This event is broken down by region, as players are separated into teams of North, South, East, and West Florida.

The 2021 Senior State Games is the second running of the event after an inaugural 2020 event. Last year’s event featured 3 players who were selected in the 2021 MLB Draft and 32 players who have since committed and are starting their college baseball careers now. This year we have another talented roster with committed and uncommitted players. We expect the stands to be filled with pro scouts and colleges to watch the Senior State Games.

Today, we will continue previewing the players who will be in attendance at the 2021 Senior State Games. We will break down the rosters by region, continuing with the West.

West Region

Last but not least is the West region. The West are the reigning Senior State Games Champions and are looking to repeat with a talented team filled with hungry uncommitted players. On the mound, the West features Jacksonville commit RHP Evan Chrest, as well as HCC commits RHPs Isaiah Myles and Augie Mojica. The uncommitted arms for the West are RHPs Nick Saccasyn and Dearl Edens and LHPs Nick Groover and Santiago Gutierrez.

Behind the plate are a trio of uncommitted catchers in Eli Kapkowski, Hayden Cockman, and Cory Filley. In the infield, Alabama commit Colby Shelton, and uncommitted Dillon Costello, Casey Lockwood, Ryan Crivello, Roberto Odor, Osmin Melendez, and Jadyn Fielder. Rounding out the West in the outfield are Jorge Cartagena, De’Sean Rogers, Nick Monile, and Kerry Herndon-Brown who will also be on the mound.

The West brings a lot of uncommitted talent that should impress coaches in attendance.
