Prep Baseball Report

The end of July means that the country is getting ready to turn its attention to LakePoint in Emerson, GA for the country's biggest underclass event, the PBR Future Games.  Featuring 400+ uncommitted players from across the country, representing their state or region, with every workout and game played at one 4 field diamond at LakePoint.

Team Carolina will again represent both North Carolina and South Carolina at the 2023 event.  Today we are unveiling the roster for Team Carolina with a brief breakdown of the roster make-up, plus a look at the path Team Carolina will take in Georgia.

Last year Team Carolina went 3-0 while also creating a ton of buzz off of the workout day.  With another big turnout of 400+ college coaches and scouts anticipated for 2023, Team Carolina is set and ready to be the talk of the event again.

Team Carolina Catcher Preview

Peter Mershon C / 3B / Eastside, SC / 2025

6-2, 190 pounds, with a long, lean, athletic physique that has potential to grow.  One of the top players in the state and the country.  With a line drive approach and consistent hard contact, he displays power to all fields.  Athletic ability to play in all areas of the field on defense.  Making clean throws to 2B at 1.92 – 2.02 from behind the plate displays solid footwork and a clean exchange.  Has strong arm throughout the field and good hands in the infield.  Has outstanding accuracy, 6.95 60 speed, and can track down balls in the outfield.  Very versatile player with good athleticism but really projects behind the plate as well as a top hitter in the country.

Stow Rogers C / 3B / James Island Charter, SC / 2025

A tall, athletic build that will keep getting bigger. Stow is a serious power threat at the plate, but what really sets him apart from the competition is his ability to consistently hit the barrel and take what the pitchers throw at him to get singles as well as extra-base hits.  He is aggressive not only at the plate but also from behind the plate. Good at receiving, blocking, and accurate throws to second.

Ayden Wall C / RHP / Ledford , NC / 2025

Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with room to fill out. Wall shows athleticism and strength both offensively and defensively. He has had good showings in 2023 at the Preseason All State Central and the NC/SC Border Battle. Accurate arm from behind the plate that has been up to 79 mph. Balanced swing with the ability to drive the ball to both gaps. He has posted a top exit velocity of 95.8 mph. He plays the game with energy and works hard behind the plate. While there is a lot to like now he still has projection ahead with room to grow before reaching his ceiling.
