TEAM OUTLOOK

The Lake Belton Broncos and Coach Chris Peacock will look to build off of their strong 2023 finish heading into this season. After winning nearly 30 games and finishing as 5A Regional Quarterfinalists, the Broncos bring back pitching depth and experience within the lineup for 2024.

On the pitching side of things, the Broncos bring back their ace in RHP Mason Law (2024; Southeastern Oklahoma State). Law had a phenomenal 2023 season that saw him earn Third Team All-State, as well as the District’s Pitcher of the Year award. Joining him on the pitching staff will be fellow senior RHP/CIF Peyton Flanagan (uncommitted), who earned First Team All-District last season.

In the lineup, Lake Belton returns three seniors who had stellar junior seasons in 2023, and find themselves committed to playing at the junior college level in OF Brandon Bell (Panola JC), INF/RHP Clint Beck (Weatherford JC), and OF Peanut Brazzle (Temple JC). After earning Second Team All-District in 2023, Bell is currently ranked No. 289 in the state, with Beck also earning the same All-District honors and checking in at No. 245 in the rankings. Brazzle earned First Team All-District last year and should make for a solid senior outfield pairing between him and Bell for 2024. Completing the starting outfield crop for the Broncos will be junior OF/INF Bryce Davis (uncommitted), who earned First Team All-District as a sophomore last season. Joining the aforementioned Beck in the infield is expected to be senior C Tanner Jones (uncommitted), as well as junior INF Cameron Bartz (uncommitted).

Some freshmen to monitor heading into the 2024 season are infielders Reese Rosenbaum, Gavin Carpenter, and Joaquin Gamino, as well as OF Logan Winkler. These four will begin their high school careers this spring and could end up factoring in on the varsity squad in the coming years.

Lake Belton has some exciting pieces among the senior class in a variety of spots on the diamond. Look for the Broncos to make another strong playoff run in 2024 with their pitching and veteran lineup.
