On October 27th, our PBR boot-on-the-ground staff held the Fall Underclass Showcase at Franklin Ranch. This showcase featured talented underclassmen from every corner of the state. Today is a look at an in-depth analysis with scouting reports of all the infielders in attendance. Be sure to stay tuned for the continued releases of analysis from the Fall Underclass Showcase.

INFIELDERS

Anthony Aguilar, 3B/RHP, Brandeis, 2021
5-foot-10, 160-pounds, strong athletic right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher.  Posted an 82 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. In the field, hands work out front, soft at times, plays through the baseball with some rhythm. Threw 84 MPH across the diamond.  Ran a 7.97 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, Tall and fall delivery with some tempo, lands square with closed shoulders, repeatable mechanics. Over the top release point with quick arm action. Fastball sits at 83 MPH, curveball at 69 MPH, changeup between 71-72 MPH.  Offspeed pitches are thrown with near fastball arm speed with good feel for the bottom of the zone.  

Wesley Boedeker, 2B/OF, A&M Consolidated, 2022.
5-foot-8, 140-pounds, athletic, right handed hitting second basemen and outfielder. Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, two-hand gather, fields in the midline of body, plays through the baseball at times. Threw 68 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.73 in the 60-yard dash. 

Dylan Brown, INF/RHP, Prestonwood Christian, 2022
5-foot-11, 190-pounds, physical right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Athletic set-up, barrel tilt load with toe-tap stride. Direct bat path on a slightly uphill plane, line drive approach to the gaps. Posted an 82 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, plays with some rhythm, glove works from the ground up, clean exchange, projects as a corner infielder. Arm works from a ¾ slot, threw 73 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.23 in the 60-yard dash.  On the mound, tall and fall delivery, arm works from a low ¾ arm slot. fastball topped at 73 MPH with some arm-side run and the curveball sat at 63 MPH. 

Ethan Chea, INF, Tomball Memorial HS, 2022
5-foot-8, 225-pounds, right-handed hitting infielder. Athletic, crouched set-up with rhythm in his hands, smooth barrel tilt load with controlled leg kick, strong lower half through swing. Uphill bat path, looks to drive the ball to the gaps, can get long at times. Posted an 86 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, glove works from the ground up, soft hands at times, looked comfortable on the backhand.  Threw 78 MPh across the diamond. Ran a 8.23 in the 60-yard dash. 

Adam Desroches, 1B/LHP, St. Thomas HS, 2021
6-foot-4, 210-pounds, physical left-handed hitting first basemen and pitcher. Hits from a tall, balanced set-up, some rhythm in his hands, toe-tap into long stride. Uphill bat path, aggressive lower half, finishes in his legs. Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, fields from the ground up, two-hand gather. Arm works from a low ¾ slot, loose action. Threw 76 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.00 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, tall and fall delivery, lands slightly open. Fastball topped at 78 MPH, thrown for strikes. The curveball worked at 67 MPH with good feel for the zone, late break.

Michael Elko, INF, College Station HS, 2022
5-foot-10, 161-pounds, wiry left-handed hitting infielder. Balanced set-up, quiet hand load, long stride into wide and balanced finish. Short and level bat path, line drive approach, aggressive lower half, bat speed present,  repeatable actions. Posted an 81 MPH exit velocity. On the infield, plays through the baseball with some rhythm, early glove presentation. Short arm action from multiple angles, threw 76 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.52 in the 60-yard dash. 

Jacob Escovedo, 1B/OF, The Woodlands, 2023
5-foot-10, 155-pounds, projectable left-handed hitting first baseman. Balanced, slightly open set-up, smooth barrel tilt load with a short simple stride, fluid rhythm. Level to slightly uphill bat path, loose hands. Posted a 77 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, active footwork, glove works out front, clean exchange. Arm works from a low ¾ arm slot with a quick release. Threw 71 MPH across the infield. Ran a 8.28 in the 60-yard dash. 

Jesse Espinoza, SS/RHP, Atascocita HS, 2023
5-foot-9, 150-pounds, compact right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Tall, balanced set-up, hands set high, simple short stride into balanced finish. Direct bat path on a level plane, extension through the baseball, lower half works well. Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, steady defender, early glove presentation, clean exchange. Long arm action, throws from a low ¾ arm slot.  Ran a 7.83 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, drop and drive delivery with some tempo, lands balanced, in fielding position. Long and loose arm action with regular effort. Fastball sits at 72 MPH, in the zone. Curveball works with 11/5 shape at 63 MPH.

Tyler Garritano, SS/RHP, Boerne HS, 2023
5-foot-8, 135-pounds, wiry, right-handed hitting middle infielder and pitcher. Tall, balanced set-up, slightly open, slow and controlled leg kick into long stride, quiet hand load. Level bat path with extension through the baseball, line drive approach. Posted a 78 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, athletic feet, clean exchange, plays through the baseball with tempo. Threw 75 MPH across the diamond.  Ran a 8.31 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, drop and drive delivery with smooth tempo, gets over his front side well. Arm works from a high ¾ arm slot, regular effort. Featured a curveball at 64 MPH with 11/5 shape. Fastball topped at 73 MPH. 

Carter Groen, 1B/RHP, Ridge Point HS, 2023
6-foot-3, 200-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting first basemen and pitcher. Hits from a narrow set-up with some rhythm in his hands, smooth hand load with knee to knee leg lift. Line drive approach with good extension through the baseball, head stays down through swings. Posted an 85 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, attacks the baseball with good tempo, early glove presentation, showed soft hands on the backhand play. Arm works from a low ¾ slot, loose and quick action. Threw 79 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.02 60-yard dash. On the mound, tall and fall delivery with athletic finish. Fastball topped at 80 MPH, thrown for strikes. Spun the curveball at 69 MPH and the changeup sat at 75 MPH with significant arm-side run.

Garrett Gruell, 1B/3B, Groesbeck HS, 2021
6-foot-1, 220-pounds, strong right-handed hitting corner infielder. Posted an 82 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, clean actions, glove works out front with softness, gets low and wide on gather. Arm works loose and quick from a low ¾ slot, Threw 78 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.90 in the 60-yard dash. 

Tynan Gunn, 1B/RHP, Vista Ridge HS, 2022
6-foot-1, 240-pounds, physical right-handed hitting first basemen and pitcher. Hits from a tall and balanced set-up, hands load back and down with a simple and repeatable leg kick. Direct bat path on a slightly uphill plane, loose hands, bat speed present, showed the ability to turn on the inside pitch. .Posted the highest exit velocity of the afternoon at 94 MPH off of a tee. On defense moves well around the bag, fields from the ground up. Arm works from a ¾ slot, quick and loose action. Threw 83 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.00 in the 60-yard dash.  On the mound, worked solely out of the stretch, drop and drive delivery with athletic finish. Fastball topped at 82 MPH with some sink and run. The Curveball spun at 71 MPH with 11/5 shape. The changeup sat 66-70 MPH and showed good movement to the arm side.

Marshall Hale, 3B/1B, Tomball Memorial HS, 2022
6-foot-1, 222-pounds, physical right-handed hitting corner infielder. Athletic set-up, quiet hand load with slight leg kick, strong lower half through swing. Swings with intent, power approach to the gaps, has the ability to backspin the ball into the outfield. Posted a 91 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, plays with some bounce, glove works out front with a little stiffness at times. Arm works from a ¾ slot, short action. Threw 76 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.96 in  the 60-yard dash. 

Braydon Hawthorne, INF/RHP, Willis HS, 2023
5-foot-11, 156-pounds, compact right-handed hitting infielder. Balanced, open set-up, hands set high with flexion in back elbow, slight leg kick with smooth hand load. Short bat path on an uphill plane, produces natural lift, gap to gap approach. Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, soft hands, plays through the baseball with some tempo, clean exchange. Threw 77 across the diamond.  Ran a 8.17 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, sound mechanics, gets to good balance point, lands in line with square shoulders, low effort. Long, quick arm action over the top. Fastball topped at 78 MPH, curveball sat at 70 MPH, changeup sat at 70 MPH and the slider worked at 71 MPH. 

Sully Hill, INF, Centerville HS, 2022
6-foot-0, 160-pounds, switch-hitting infielder.  Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, bouncy defender with solid actions, early glove presentation, clean exchange, plays through the baseball and looks confident on the move. Arm works from a low ¾ slot, threw 74 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.91 in the 60-yard dash.

Colton Hopper, 2B/3B, Kingwood Park HS, 2021.
5-foot-10, 155-pounds, lanky, athletic, left-handed hitting infielder. Balanced set-up, smooth hand load, controlled leg kick into long stride, balanced finish. Direct bat path on an uphill plane, produces natural lift, power approach to the gaps. Posted an 82 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. In the field, clean and quick exchange, soft hands at times. Short and quick arm action over the top. Threw 73 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.82 in the 60-yard dash.

Luke Jackson, RHP/INF Lake Travis HS, 2022
5-foot-11, 140-pounds, wiry right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. At the plate, hits from a balanced set-up, hands stay quiet through load, slight leg kick into short stride. Short bat path, stays inside and on top of the baseball. Posted an 78 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, early glove presentation, plays through the baseball with some tempo. Long and loose arm action from a high ¾ slot.  Threw 79 MPH across the diamond. Ran an 8.04 in the 60-yard dash. As a pitcher, Jackson has long levers that help him get down the mound. Fastball topped at 79 MPH, thrown for knee-high strikes. His offspeed pitches include a curveball at 65 MPH and a fading changeup at 69 MPH.

Barrett Johnson, INF/RHP, Johnson HS, 2023
5-foot-10, 160-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Tall, balanced set-up, barrel tilt load with aggressive leg kick, balanced finish. Level bat path with extension through the baseball, loose hands, gap to gap approach, works on the inner half of the baseball. Posted an 80 MPH exit velocity off of a tee.  On the infield, good bounce and tempo, glove works from the ground up, ability to field on the move. Short and quick arm action from multiple angles. Threw 81 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.08 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, drop and drive delivery with smooth rhythm, lands closed with level shoulders. Fastball tops at 77 MPH, curveball sits at 60 MPH with an 11/5 shape. 

Evan Kuahaahaa, RHP/1B, Brandeis HS, 2022
6-foot-1, 230-pounds, strong right-handed hitting pitcher and first basemen. Hits from a wide and crouched position. Hands load slightly back with a quick toe-tap stride. Level bat path,  barrel gets on plane early. Posted an 89 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, plays with some bounce, fields the ball deep at times. Arm works from a ¾ slot. Threw 73 MPH across the infield. Ran a 9.09 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, worked solely out of the stretch, drop and drive delivery, lands in athletic position. Fastball topped at 82 MPH with slight running action. The curveball sat at 72 MPH, thrown for strikes. 

Craig Kelly, SS/C, Fort Bend Christian, 2021.
5-foot-7, 170-pounds, durable, left-handed hitting catcher and middle infielder. Athletic, open set-up, smooth hand load with long stride. Direct bat path on a slightly uphill plane, bat speed present, produces natural lift. Posted a 84 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. In the infield, works underneath the baseball with active feet, quick and clean exchange. Threw 79 MPH across the diamond.  Behind the plate, quick transfer, showcased a ___ pop time. Ran a 7.59 in the 60-yard dash. 

Liam Koleci, 2B/RHP, Bridgeland, 2021
5-foot-11, 164-pounds, left-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Balanced, athletic set-up, barrel-tilt load, simple long stride. Direct pat bath on a level plane, extension through the baseball, line drive approach. Posted an 85 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, early glove presentation out front, active footwork, clean exchange. Short arm action from a ¾ to low ¾ release point. Threw 83 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.00 in the 60-yard dash.  On the mound, tall and fall delivery with some tempo, lands square with closed shoulders. Throws from a low ¾ release point with regular effort. Fastball tops at 78 MPH, consistently sitting at 76-78 MPH with some arm-side run. Curveball sits at 65 MPH. 

Logan Lacey, SS/OF, Birdville HS, 2021
6-foot-0, 175-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting infielder.  Posted an 86 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, plays with some bounce, two-hand gather off the midline of his body,, clean and quick exchange. Short, loose arm action, low ¾ slot. Threw 82 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.67 in the 60-yard dash.

Christian Letendre, 1B/3B, A&M Consolidated, 2022
6-foot-0, 187-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting corner infielder. Posted an 89 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, feet work well around the bag, plays with some bounce and tempo, two-hand gather. Arm works from a ¾ slot, long and loose action. Threw 76 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.78 in the 60-yard dash. 

Noah McCarren, SS/OF, The Woodlands, 2021
5-foot 10, 165-pounds, wiry, right-handed hitting infielder. Posted an 80 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. Sound defender, athletic feet, plays through the baseball with rhythm, advanced actions on exchange, showed accuracy from multiple arm angles. Threw 78 across the diamond. Ran a 7.36 in the 60-yard dash.

5-foot-11, 180-pounds, athletic right-handed hitting middle infielder. Posted a 89 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, plays from the ground up, ability to play through the baseball, looked comfortable fielding on the move, smooth and quick exchange. Arm works from multiple angles, threw 82 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.73 in the 60-yard dash

Jagger Neely, 2B/RHP, Lake Creek HS, 2021
5-foot-11, 145-pounds, right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. No video for hitting. Posted a 79 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. In the field, active footwork, plays through the baseball in rhythm, hands work out front, soft. Short arm action from multiple angles.  Threw 85 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. On the mound, uses a tall and fall delivery, lands in line with square shoulders. Throws with a long arm action, over the top release point, easy effort. Fastball topped at 81 MPH. Curveball worked at 66 mph with an 11/5 shape. Chanegeup sat at 74 MPH.

Brandon Nelson, 2B/OF, Montgomery HS, 2022
5-foot-9, 140-pounds, lanky, right-handed hitting infielder. Posted a 74 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, glove plays below the baseball, two-hand gather, fields through the midline of body. Arm works from a ¾ slot with a quick release. Threw 72 MPH across the diamond.  Ran a 7.80 in the 60-yard dash.

Caleb Perry, RHP/3B, Waxahachie HS, 2022
6-foot-4, 185-pounds, physical right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Hits from a balanced set-up, barrel tilt load, short stride into wide finish. Level bat path, extension through the baseball, loose hands with present bat speed. Posted an 83 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, plays low to the ground, comfortable on the move, soft hands. Arm works from a ¾ slot, threw 83 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.43 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, smooth delivery with some rhythm, lands in line and gets down the mound. Fastball topped at 81 MPH, thrown for knee-high strikes. The curveball sat at 67 MPH.

Andrew Poole, 3B/RHP, Brandeis HS, 2022
6-foot-0, 210-pounds, physical right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Hits from a balanced set-up, quiet hand load, controlled leg kick with good rhythm. Level bat path, hands stay inside the baseball, good extension. Posted an 84 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, steady defender with some bounce, quick exchange and release. Arm works at 81 MPH across the diamond, accurate from multiple angles. Ran an 8.06 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, lands in line with square shoulders, repeatable mechanics. Fastball topped at 82 MPH with a little arm-side run. The changeup sat at 74 MPH and showed sinking action late.

Joshua Rivas, 1B/RHP, Klein Collins HS, 2022
5-foot-9, 170-pounds, right-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Posted an 88 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. At first base, works from the ground up, active footwork, clean exchange. Long and loose arm action from a ¾ slot. Threw 80 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 8.47 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, tall and fall delivery, lands in line with level to slightly downhill shoulders, athletic finish. Loose action with regular effort from a ¾ slot. Fastball topped at 81 MPH, thrown for strikes at the knees. Slider sat at 67 with 10/4 shape and the changeup sat at 72-73 MPH. 

Jayden Rodriquez, 2B/RHP, Pflugerville-Hendrickson HS, 2023
5-foot-7, 130-pounds, right-handed hitting middle infielder and pitcher. Balanced set-up with hands set high by back ear, simple toe-tap stride into balanced finish. Short bat path, barrel stays on top of the baseball. Posted a 71 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On defense, plays underneath the baseball, clean exchange, ability to field on the move. Threw 74 MPH across the diamond. Ran an 8.02 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, tall and fall delivery with some rhythm. Lands in line with square shoulders, good feel for the zone. Features a slider with 11/5 shape at 66 MPH. Fastball topped at 73 MPH. 

Sawyer Smith, INF, Carthage HS, 2021
6-foot-1, 178-pounds, projectable, athletic left-handed hitting infielder. Hits from an open, balanced set-up, hands load up and back, simple short stride. Direct bat path on a slightly uphill plane, extension through the baseball, loose hands, line drive approach to the gaps, stays inside the baseball. Posted an 86 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, early glove presentation, fields through the baseball with rhythm, soft hands. Long arm action from a ¾ slot. Threw 75 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.12 in the 60-yard dash. 

Jake Tatom, SS/3B, Porter HS, 2022
5-foot-11, 150-pounds, wiry and athletic right-handed hitting infielder. Posted an 84 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, steady defender with tempo and rhythm, early glove presentation, ability to make plays on the move. Arm works naturally over the top, showed ability to throw from multiple angles. Threw 85 PMH across the diamond.  Ran a 7.19 in the 60-yard dash. 

Joshua Vaughn, INF, Clark HS, 2022
5-foot-11, 145-pounds, wiry right-handed hitting infielder. Posted a 74 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. Smooth actions on the infield, quick first step, soft hands with early glove presentation, ability to field through the baseball. Arm works from a ¾ slot, short and loose action. Threw 68 MPH across the diamond Ran a 8.15 in the 60-yard dash. 

Grayson Willey, INF, Katy HS, 2023
6-foot-1, 165-pounds, wiry left-handed hitting infielder. Balanced set-up with hands set high behind head, simple short stride with quiet hand load. Compact swing, loose hands, worked underneath the baseball a bit in his round, showed the ability to drive the ball to the pull-side.    Posted a 78 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. On the infield, clean exchange, plays through the baseball. Arm works from a low ¾ slot, accurate. Threw 71 MPH across the diamond. Ran a 7.93 in the 60-yard dash. 

Mayson Winters, SS/2B, Bowie HS, 2023.
5-foot-6, 140-pounds, athletic, right-handed hitting middle infielder. Balanced, open set-up, leg kick into long stride, hands load up and back. Short bat path, line drive approach, smooth rhythm. Posted a 75 MPH exit velocity off of a tee. Quick feet on defense, plays through the baseball with tempo, glove plays soft and out front, advanced actions. Threw 72 MPH across the diamond.  Ran a 7.47 in the 60-yard dash.
