Houston Fall Prospect I.D: Quick Hits

CYPRESS, T.X. - On November 22, our PBR Texas staff hosted the Houston Fall Prospect I.D. to a much anticipated showcase and trials on the confines of Schiel Sports Complex. The event featured a talented group of prospects from the 2021-2024 classes. Today we highlight a few standout performances in our Quick Hits Notebook. 

QUICK HITS 

Alexander Gomez OF / SS / Klein Collins, TX / 2022

Showed well all-around on Sunday by running a 6.94 60 yard dash and then threw 89 from the outfield and 83 across the infield with clean, athletic actions. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 91.32, hitting line drives to the pull-side with regularity.  

Fabian Ramirez OF / RHP / Milby, TX / 2022

Had a solid showing all-around. He ran a 6.98 60 yard dash, then threw 94 from the outfield. He had a max exit velocity of 81.81 during BP hitting line drives with regularity. On the mound, he was 86-88 T89 mph flashing arm-side run with a 66-71 mph curveball and 71-74 mph changeup flashing arm-side action.

Blake Brown SS / 2B / Lake Creek , TX / 2023

Once again showed clean actions in the infield with a velocity of 83 across the infield. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 92.64 mph, hitting line drives from gap to gap with regularity.  

Matthew Whitting C / OF / Lamar, TX / 2022

Had a solid day as well. Behind the dish, he is very active with quick actions, having a 2.02 pop time with good carry and accuracy, throwing 75 mph. In BP, he had a max exit velocity of 91.07 hitting line drives with regularity.

Riley Bender SS / OF / Kingwood, TX / 2021

Abilene Christian recruit. Had a solid day on Sunday. Defensively, he showed clean actions with accurate throws, throwing 84 mph across the infield. At the plate, he had a max exit velocity of 97.10 mph, the 2nd-highest of the day, hitting line drives and fly balls to the pull side with regularity. 

Braden Jacobs OF / SS / Barbers Hill, TX / 2022

Had a good showing all around the field, throwing 86 from the outfield, 84 across the infield and then was 78 with a 2.02 pop time from behind the dish. Offensively, he had a max exit velocity of 85.19 during BP.

Zackary Nichols RHP / C / Ridge Point, TX / 2022

Looked good behind the dish and on the mound. He had a pop time of 2.02 and velo of 78 from behind the dish. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 92.33 mph, hitting line drives with regularity. On the mound, he was 86-88 T89 with a 74-79 mph curveball. 

Anthony Winters OF / OF / Mansfield Lake Ridge , TX / 2022

Showed quality athleticism throughout the day. He ran a 7.02 60 yard dash to start the day, then threw 80 mph from the outfield. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 96.07 mph, hitting line drives to the pull side with regularity

Davis Rivers C / 1B / William B. Travis, TX / 2023

Showed smooth, clean actions behind the plate with really good carry on his throws to 2/b, throwing 76 mph with a pop time of 2.02. In BP, the LHH hit line drives with regularity from gap to gap, flashing pull-side power with a max exit velocity of 95.09 mph. 

Christian Letendre 1B / C / A&M Consolidated, TX / 2022

Had a nice day posting a max exit velocity of 94.37 mph in BP, hitting fly balls to the pull side with regularity. Behind the dish, he had a 2.04 pop time and 75 mph velo to 2B with good carry and clean exchange and footwork.  

Paxton Singleton 1B / OF / Kingwood , TX / 2022

Had a really solid round of BP. He had a max exit velocity of 99.37 mph, which was the highest of the day. He peppered the pull-side with line drives and fly balls, having a max distance of 351 feet. He also had the highest average exit velocity of 92.56 mph.

Connor Pratka SS / RHP / Magnolia, TX / 2022

Showed well all around on Sunday. From the outfield he was 87 and across the infield he was 84, both with accurate throws and clean actions. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 85.89 mph. On the bump, he was 81-84 with a 70-71 curveball and 76-78 changeup flashing arm-side action.

 

Mark Zapata LHP / LHP / Pearland, TX / 2022

Texas State recruit. Showed a heavy fastball that was 84-86, a curveball that was 69-73 flashing good depth and a changeup that 72-74.

Michael Thompson C / RHP / College Station, TX / 2022

Showed good athleticism during the showcase. He ran a 7.05 60 yard dash and then threw 86 from the outfield. During BP, he had a max exit velocity of 94.04 mph flashing raw power.

 

Cody Edwards OF / RHP / Clark, TX / 2022

Had a solid showing on Sunday. He was 88 mph from the outfield with accurate throws and clean actions. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 89.72 mph, hitting balls to the pull side with regularity. On the mound, he was 81-86 T87 flashing arm-side run with a 67-70 curveball and 69-72 changeup flashing arm-side action.

Ronald Cash Benavidez 2B / SS / Alice High School, TX / 2022

Showed clean actions in the infield, throwing 85 across the diamond. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 91.35, hitting line drives and fly balls with regularity. 

Grant Davis SS / RHP / Alvin, TX / 2022

Showed athletic, clean actions on the infield, throwing 87 across during the workout. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 89.35 mph, hitting line drives with regularity. 

Wade Eslick C / OF / Tomball , TX / 2022

Had a good showing all around on Sunday afternoon. He threw 85 from the outfield and then from behind the plate, he was 75 with a 2.04 pop time. During BP he had a max exit velocity of 87.82 hitting line drives with regularity from gap to gap.

Tyler Garritano SS / 3B / Boerne, TX / 2023

Started off the day well throwing 81 across the infield. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 93.50, hitting line drives with regularity. On the bump, he was 83-84 flashing arm-side run with a 70-71 curveball and 74-75 changeup flashing arm-side action. 

Carson Luna SS / RHP / St. Johns, TX / 2024

Showed clean, athletic actions on the infield throwing 77 across. In BP he had a max exit velocity of 86.46 mph spraying the ball all around the field. Solid projectability as he continues to add more strength to his frame.
